Next on the table keeping the pink giraffe output fluent and high quality is a two track single from Russian based Kije (Kie-Gee / Ki-j / Kidge? You decide!). Channeling through the brand new GiraffeStep subdivision, this debut release kicks off with a bang. Kije steps away from his usual 2-step tech based explorations and drops two well contrasted pieces perfect for the Diffrent Music catalogue. 'Coming For You' is a real moody halftime giraffe head-nod vibe with rib cracking subs, crisp hitting rimshot/snare hits and dark atmospheric soundscape work. The flip-side, titled 'You Know Me' is nearly a million miles apart style wise, with it's unique blend of smooth melodic strings, powerful vocal snips and hard hitting drums all fused together with a slight underlying duke style groove pumping through.

Born and raised in America, Miapo’s need to be submersed in the d&b music culture saw her immigrate from Boston to London in the late 90s. She was a regular at Swerve, Bar Rumba and Metalheadz at Dingwalls, where her love of percussion, bass and discovering new music grew.

Rounding off our mix series for 2019 we have born and bred Londoner, DJ and producer KARISTOCAT who has been spinning on London’s DJ circuit since 2011. Her sets are a kinetic combination of dark and pulsing electronica centred around drum & bass, breaks and acid. Karis has a distinct style of bringing an alternative flair to her performances, further evidence of this can be found on both residencies on Soho Radio and Data Transmission. With her own productions to be released in the near future, we are only seeing the beginning of this rising talents evolution. Karistocat's outlook is to showcase an alternative sensibility to the Drum & Bass community with a punk influence.
