Such an angry bird lol, these always make me laugh as their posture always makes them look like they mean business and they really do! 

They make a variety of different song types but all of them seem to share this rich, Song Thrush like quality that's powerful, smooth and has some satisfying higher articulation.

It's no wonder these birds are so easily persecuted, as they are so loud during the breeding season. Especially when the chicks have fledged as they're constantly calling the parents for food. This nest is monitored and chicks are ringed every year but they have decided to nest right alongside a main track so I hope they don't attract the wrong attention. Either way, chicks have fledged and are wondering further away from the nest site, so hopefully they'll disperse soon.

The third year in a row a pair of Blyth's Reed Warblers will nest at Salsta Castle, just north of Uppsala. Always a pleasure to record with all its imitations. At least 15 species are discernible in this recording: Chaffinch, House Martin, White Wagtail, Linnet, Common Swift, Goldfinch, Bluethroat, Blackbird, Yellow Wagtail, Blue Tit, Redstart, Fieldfare, Barn Swallow, Wheatear and Redwing. Blyth's Reed Warbler - the master mimic!

Amazing feat to be able to continuously sing without seemingly breathe. Close to Hågaån in Uppsala I recorded this grasshopper warbler and its close neighbours: Sedge Warbler,Common Reed Bunting, Red-backed Shrike. June 7, 2023.
