I'm so grateful to James D. Eckblad for asking me to write a little music for "The Books of Bairnmoor." They tell a tale of overcoming obstacles and inspire us to believe in ourselves and spread the good. I couldn’t ask to be part of a more special aspiration. Hopefully this music honors that.

Mi vida personal, como no tengo por qué contarla aquí, simplemente digo lo que me encanta del mundo audiovisual:

Películas de la India, siendo 3 Idiots, Kahaani y Hamari Adhuri Kahani mis meras favoritas. También me fascina su música, y más cuando mezclan su estilo con el occidental. Mis actores favoritos son Vidya Balan, Aamir Khan y Kareena Kapoor, de ellos siguen Alia Bhatt y Varun Dhawan.

En cuestión de producciones norteamericanas, de películas ya no soy muy fan, pero sí de las series Desperate Housewives, Sleepy Hollow, Grimm y Devious Maids. Antes veía Bates Motel y The Walking Dead, pero me aburrieron.

En cuestión de música de fondo, me gustan de películas, series, uno que otro juego, y pues, dependiendo de la melodía. No tengo tantos compositores favoritos porque casi nunca los ubico, a excepción de Steve Jablonsky, Robert Lydecker, Brian Tyler y Edward Sheamur, también en menor medida, Richard Marvin. Todos son compositores de series de televisión y películas, pero la banda sonora que más me gusta es de las series.

Techung is a Tibetan singer/songwriter living in exile in upstate New York. In addition to being looked up to as one of the key keepers of traditional Tibetan musical traditions, he is also respected for the original solo and collaborative music he creates by drawing on both his own heritage and his familiarity with other world music traditions. 

Techung had the honor to open for His Holiness the Dalai Lama's public speech in USA,Costa Rica and Japan. His latest album Techung-Tibet-Lam La Che (On The Road) (2013), with Keb Mo and poet Tsering Woeser received four Best awards in the category of: Best Album, Best Song, Best album cover design and Best Love song at the Tibetan Music Award.

The lyrics of Nangma and Toeshey songs contain references to Tibetan culture, history and society. Hence, while translating many of these may make very little sense in English. Nevertheless, we will keep providing English translation with hope that the audience will get something out of these lyrics. Enjoy!

Most of the Nangmas and Toeshey that are recorded here are taught to me by late master Gen Lutse La, but there are few that are new which were taught to me by Garpon Pasang Dhondup la, who visited TIPA from 1980-84.  Both teacher have passed away. My singing is also influenced by late elder singers such as Anen la, Chushu Yeshe Dolma la.
