Pieces of Me

I start each morning
taking time to pray.
So thankful that
I get another day.

Each breath I take's 
a gift to me.
I hope that I can be worthy.
I'll cherish it all.
Get up when I fall.

This life is such a
sweet little mystery.
Every day I strive
to set my spirit free.

Nothing will get in my way.
Won't waste this magical new day.
It's my solemn quest.
I'll give it my best.

This world can be
cold, dark, lonely.
Change ain't easy.
But “quitter” is not me.
You see?

Today I stand and face
my one true destiny.
The broken me
relegated to history.

One step begins this epic tale
with twists and turns,
I will not fail.
I now understand.
It's mine to command.

All that you see
are pieces of me.
Try hard to be
happy and free.
But God has his plan.
and I'm just one man.
The race that I ran
was so much more than
carefree.

It took pieces of me.

I have given
