MILC PRESENTS THE ALL EXCLUSIVE 50 MINUTE UGLY DUBSTEP MIX BY GUTZ

Chapter 1 of the milc saga, where milc turned from a tight band of friends from LA to one of the most recognized dusbtep labels of today! After a year of research and networking online, Gutz & Wulf licensed and compiled one of the most epic compilation lineups we could with our resources at the time. Bringing together artists from all over the world: producers, DJs, VJs, dancers, visual artists, MCs, rappers, graffiti artists and whoever decided to take part in the cause, to create the milc label and brand to show, that we could do it ourselves. The UGLY release took off quick and instantly made headway into the dubstep scene, a few releases later, milc was being in heard in clubs and warehouses all around the world! With MILC002 we knew we had to go all in to follow up the debut release of the UGLY compilation and it's success. Being a new and fairly unknown label, it was really hard to convince people like Lifecycle and Megalodon to sign with us (still is difficult). So we kind of had to bend over backward and take a big loss with an advance we couldn't afford at the time to make this marketing strategy and release plan happen, the idea of having only big tunes by big boys in our debut lineup was key to making milc respectable right off the bat. After debuting on the beatport charts in the top 10, you would start to hear this single more and more in warehouses all over the world. Lifecycle (NL) really did give us the honor to present to you, two of his best works, 'Ziek' & 'Bassline Rider'. So many heads have already told us his release has been deemed a classic, that is before it was even out! Make sure to pick up your copy of MILC002 if you haven't already!

[MILC002] Lifecycle (NL) - Ziek | Bassline Rider

In the third chapter of the milc series, we had come across 17 year old (at the time) Bristol based Kahlil, and asked if he would be interested in bringing out his debut EP with milc. We came to find out that Bassclash Records and Hench were talking to Kahlil at the time about an EP, so we knew it was going to be a long shot. In the end, with a sizable advance, we won the battle between the two label giants, and were able to license some of his best tunes of the year, like the total underdog tunes: 'Nameless' & 'Mash Up'! We were really lucky to pick up such a talented young artist so early on and also very proud to have been the first label he was signed to. At the moment he has EPs with Bassclash Records and is talking to Smog Records about a possible release. 

"LA crew Milc are making some distinctive moves in the bass scene right now. With their cheeky animated iconography and trademark 'ugly' sound, they're like the Hench of the US West Coast. "Nameless" is a fine example; its slurring metallic bass groans while snares rattle so close to your ears they'll shave your sideburns. The same uncompromising technique is found on both "Used Up" and "Mash Up" - the former riding bare back on a ragga vocal loop while the latter gets all squiggly and freestyle in the mid range department. Finally the title track; a hair-raising wig-out armed with an insanity-inducing cascade-bass melody, "Lockdown" lives up to its name in a major way."

[MILC003] Kahlil - 'Lockdown EP' Sampler [Out March 25th]

Hanns production's have been top notch right out of the bag, another Bristol based legend we happened to scoop up early has really put a big dent in the game over the years with his dark and deep basslines. Honestly we were surprised with the results of the release sales because there are some serious wall shakers in this release that are straight MAD! With MILC003 & MILC004 we learned it's hard to follow up big names even if the music is up to par! The lack of sales don't only generate negatives, anytime we play these tunes out, they basically go down like they're plates. Which is a perfect reason why you should pick up the 'Killah' & 'Lockdown' EP, especially if you are looking for that hench Bristol sound!

"Hanns comes through with the fourth instalment of the Milc series and delivers a real spectacle - grinding, aggressive wobbling all round. "Locked In" pays homage to the UK's long-standing pirate radio chant and in fact, its broken bass swirl almost reminds us of a million listeners locked in to the sound of dubstep's powerful rhythms. "Love Life" and "Like A Fox" are also outstanding examples of the genre's evolution since its incarnation over ten years ago - something which Hanns has developed into an all-out sonic frenzy. The title track "Killah" certainly is killer and it shows Hanns at his most daring, where those bass wobbles are distorted, chewed up and spat out into a reggae-leaning monster. Gutz takes care of the remix duties and by hell does he come through in style! B-I-G."

Wulf's debut EP into the scene began with the Finish Him EP! As one of the original milc heads we felt we had to do this one big! The art, the remixes, the collabs all were a huge effort in our early stages as a label, and they definitely payed off, 'Bounce' by Wulf was one of our best selling tunes in 2013, not to mention "Dumbo Riddim - Gutz Remix's" comeback in early 2014. Anyway, this is a staple EP to have in the milc collection, period!
