A live recording form the first Back in the Day daytime party, in not so sunny LA, Stoke-on-Trent, and what a day it was!

I tried to capture some of the sounds of Ibiza in days gone by, and the intro is a nod to DJ Alfredo, the originator of the Balearic Beat, who often played the Pink Panther theme when mixing between different genres in the nightclubs of Ibiza in the 1980's and 90's.

So here's my set from The Carnival De Disco, with Howard from Take That, on Saturday 4th June, as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee four day weekend celebrations.

I played from 5:30 until 7pm after Howard, on a sunny afternoon in downtown LA, Stoke-on-Trent.

Here's a few of those classic Disco records we all know, and love to sing along to.........

Quite a hard one to describe, but during my sunset session at savannah last night i was told the heartbreaking news that my friend andy had passed on. emotional enough to soundtrack the sunset this is 4 hours worth of music all dedicated to him. 

hope you enjoy if you have the time to listen and please whllst doing so raise a glass to a man who enjoyed music and ibiza as much as all of us here. x

Side Chic do bangin' street food, Artisan Tap sell the beer, and I play the music, what's not like? This one off event was jumping from the get go!

This one kicks off with the sound check at 5:30pm, I recorded the first 100 minutes or so here, but went on to play for over 6 hours!

An eclectic mix of Electronic Disco, Punk and Rock to sound track the evening, and what a great little party it was!

There's a formula for Substitute gigs, that's evolved over the years, where we play Dub Reggae and Disco / Funk edits at the start, and Old School House at the end. I play something different in the middle, like stuff you might not have heard...... not new..... just different..... and here it is, warts an' all!

Substitute @ Back Yard 27/8/23

With David Morales returning to play for FAC 51 The Hacienda for the first time in seven years, headlining The Warehouse Project on Boxing Day, David has kindly supplied an exclusive one hour mix of classic Hacienda tunes, which he considers his salute to the music and spirit of the original Hacienda.

The stylish set puts together many of The Hac's and David's finest records from the late Eighties and early Nineties period, mixing disco, Italian house, and soulful garage styles in a seamlessly mixed testament to the strength and depth of music then.

Kicking off with the elegant strings of a laid back take on FPI Project's "Rich In Paradise", the original extended 12 inch version of Frankie Knuckles and Robert Owen's "Tears" follows before some nimble production tricks bring in the classic stabs and orders to groove of Inner City's "Big Fun". 

A light tempo runs throughout the set, with most tracks played in full with extended mixes as Black Box's "Ride On Time" and its Lolleatta Holloway vocal takes charge in all its glory before David's own seminal classic, the original Def Mix version of Robert Owen's "I'll Be Your Friend" is unleashed with its ever contemporary atmosphere of lustful, deep, tribal US clubs.

X-Press 2's "Muzik Xpress", the original 12 inch version of Alison Limerick's "Where Love Lives" and the stepped back soul of Benny Benassi's version of Black Box's "Everybody Everybody" all appear in the second half hour of the set while the delicate pianos of Soft House Company's "What You Need" brings the mix to the close in what proves a round up of many of the biggest track that shaped dance music some two decades ago during The Hacienda's original heyday.
