Back to Love (Club Class #1)(Lost Gems, Forgotten Remixes & Timeless Classics) - Mixed by Mark Anthony (March 2021)

First mix from my private stash of home listening grooves. All the tracks are timeless vocal 'sing-a-long' house tracks that were released in 1991/1992, so there all 30 years old or thereabouts! 

Some of them you will no doubt know, some of them you may not. There are a couple of huge timeless club classics in the mix but I've opted to play the lesser known mixes (mainly because there my favorite versions!) and they've been slightly overshadowed over the years and forgotten about...

After the feedback on my lockdown streams had been so joyous, particularly from the Hacienda fan contingent, I wanted to share the side of my record collection that had brought that joy during the streams in a live club environment.
The Hacienda was not only a huge part of UK club culture, but equally inspirational for many of us Stokie’s who were travelling up the M6 to experience some of these legendary nights.
Manchester was a real melting pot during this time. It wasn’t just the Hac of course, but other clubs such as Konspiracy & Most Excellent, just to name 2 that were having a big impact on all that were attending the events in Manchester during this time.
Then there were the record shops…
I would make my pilgrimage to Manchester most weekends, like most aspiring DJ’s would. The record buying mecca at the time was Eastern Bloc. There were of course iconic shops that pre-date this such as the legendary Spin Inn and then had other great shops such as MCR Underground which was an Iconic shop for many that sadly was forced to close after tragic bombing in the mid 90s. Not forgetting the mighty Vinyl Exchange where I spent many happy hours.
Afflecks Palace for many was a haven of culture. Clothes, records, posters, all kinds of paraphernalia and a place where people would meet up to hang out. Most definitely one of Manchesters most iconic spots which also had an impact on me.

A snapshot from the after party of a day celebrating the "Raves of Longton", Shelley's, Entropy and Introspective, the clubs that changed the face of Dance music in the early 90's. A time when Longton, one of the Five Towns of Stoke-on-Trent, became the epicentre of the Acid House revolution. 

There's a few pops and scratches on these old records, and production was not as slick as it is today......... sorry.......not sorry!

Raves of Longton 29/7/23

This mix was originally recorded a few years back for a radio show that was hosted by Shine, the guys behind residency I hold at the legendary Leeds Warehouse. It's features many of the tracks that I used to hear played at The Hacienda when I was going in the late 80's, early 90's and ultimately got me into DJ'ing. These are some of my personal all time favourite records that when I hear them rekindle some great memories from that era. I hope you like playing this as much as I did mixing these wicked tracks together...enjoy! x

Well if I told you I could remember playing my set I'd be lying! It was a bit of a blur if I'm honest! I think I got swept up in the party and at one point was dancing on the terrace thinking this is ACE then realising I had to go on the decks after Allister Whitehead had just blown the bladdy outdoor terrace (invisible) roof off!! So here you are, my impromptu, unplanned and off the cuff set closing the outdoor terrace before we moved things inside at 11pm! Enjoy....cos I know I did...maybe a bit too much! ha x

As Hacienda’s New Years Eve party brings together many of the club’s residents, Tom Wainwright turns in a sixty minute mix dedicated to the style & grooves that sprang from his Nineties Saturday night residency at FAC 51 with Graeme Park.

Snatching some lesser known tracks & alternate mixes from artists such as Blake Baxter, Kathy Sledge, Murk Records' Liberty City, Joe Roberts & more, Tom’s mix blends the disco edged and US club garage and house that put the sound to his time at the original club.

Tom joins Graeme Park, Greg Wilson, Jon Dasilva, Chad Jackson & Hewan Clarke for The Hacienda’s NYE Party at a Central Manchester warehouse location, a stones throw from the original club.
