It's been a long time coming, but we've finally managed to entice Shigeru Ishihara (aka DJ SCOTCH BONNET https://soundcloud.com/small-but-hard) to spin some sounds for our podcast series. He's also the co-founder of label, SMALL BUT HARD, so we're very happy and honored for this rare opportunity to plug into a fascinating, intelligent journey revealing musical influences and styles that cross cultures, continents and eras.

Also known for solo project DJ SCOTCH EGG, Ishihara is charged with a relentless energy and excess creativity. 
Swapping GameBoys and 8-bits for a hefty distortion unit, Ishihara delves deep into the world of bass-driven hip-hop breaks. As DJ Scotch Bonnet, he melds dense and distorted beats with his signature pop sensibility, referencing SCORN, NHK and the dance music culture of new home-town, Berlin.

Shigeru Ishihara is a prolific artist with a repertoire of collaborations that has included productions for the epic psychedelic outfit, DRUM EYES. As well as playing bass for newly-reformed post-rock band, SEEFEEL, he's also co-produced scores for the dub-distortion unit, DEVILMAN. 

There's never a dull moment when Shige is on the decks. He breaks the rules to interact and stimulate. So here, we experience his musical wisdom – making this a very special edition of the MINDCAST series.

Devolver is a live jam to cassette 4 track from January 19th 2012. Came out of nowhere that day and now I'm uploading it to everywhere this day. Plus a bonus take of Police Song also from January. Thought it sounded a little different from the OG which is on the Primordial Pus LP.

bocca al lupo plays violin and analogue synth filtered through dark corridors and abandoned wilderness.  these songs emerge out of the shadows to tap you on the shoulder and run into the trees.  all tracks 100% analogue, no overdubs, no cutting and pasting, no computers.  recorded & produced by dawid szczesny, winter 2013.  bocca al lupo also plays with psychedelic juggernaut, drum eyes, and with calvin xang as white sky.
