Today I found out my old physics professor, Joel Fajans, passed away. This hour long piece of improvisational music is a bit of a tribute to him in a way. He was a mentor of sorts during my time at Berkeley and interacted with me frequently during my time taking the instrumentation laboratory course even though he wasn’t teaching it that summer I took it and I remember back then he recommended I learn COBOL because a lot of bank and finance software was still written in it.

He even let me join his lab group where I met many people who I still talk with today. It was the wurtele-fajans plasma physics group at Berkeley which played a role in the experimental proof recently published on the effects of a gravitational field on anti matter by helping ways to trap enough anti-hydrogen at cern to essentially basically measure whether it falls up or down. It falls down for those who are curious but at the time there wasn’t any evidence for this because no one could trap enough anti-matter to measure this property. 

Of course most of this piece of music was produced in an improvisational fashion on the fly so no time to edit or change anything and little to no preparation beforehand besides messing around with some settings in an attempt to just capture some of the raw emotion and put it into sound. This is the first time also of experimenting with playing music with all my hardware and electric violin at once since I got the solar42f so there is a bit of experimentation here with that as well. I hope you enjoy it.

Le jeune Éric reçoit un violon comme cadeau d’anniversaire. Son intérêt marqué pour l’instrument l’amène à suivre des cours et entre au Conservatoire de Montréal à l’âge de 9 ans et en sort avec un certificat supérieur en instrumentation.

En début de carrière, Éric fait diverses incursions dans le folklore, la musique symphonique, l’électro ainsi que le jazz. C’est d’ailleurs ce dernier qui l’emmènera sur la production cinématographique «Head in the Clouds»

Mais c’est en 2009 qu’Éric Speed fait une entrée remarquée dans le paysage québécois en jouant du violon à grande vitesse, lors d’une émission à TVA, «On n’a pas toute la soirée», animée par Éric Salvail. Le public adore son style musical et son look et l’adopte en le propulsant à la première place. Le public vote à nouveau pour lui à l'émission «Sucré Salé» (TVA) et Éric gagne la grande finale de l'émission. Quelques semaines plus tard, il lance un premier album éponyme qui reçoit plusieurs bonnes critiques et devient le meilleur vendeur indépendant de l'année chez Archambault Musique.

L’année 2011 sera marquante pour Éric Speed. En février, il lance un deuxième album intitulé Starland, réalisé par John Nathaniel. Éric et John réaliseront plusieurs arrangements de cordes pour diverses personnalités du monde artistique comme Marc Dupré (Album Pop-Rock de l'année ADISQ 2011), Patrick Groulx (Album Country de l'année ADISQ 2010), Marie-Mai (Album rock de l'année ADISQ 2010), Samian (Album Hip Hop de l’année 2011), Anodajay, Annie Villeneuve et plusieurs autres.

En mai 2011, il participe à une méga production de Franco Dragone Entertainment, mise en scène par Luc Petit à Venise en Italie au côté d’artistes internationaux comme Shakira et Gotan Project.

En juillet 2011, il participe au Pinkarnaval ainsi qu’au Victor’s Folies du Festival Juste pour Rire où il bat le record Guinness du violoniste le plus rapide au monde soir après soir pendant huit soirs, devant des milliers de festivaliers sur la grande scène extérieure du festival. Son record est officiellement reconnu par Guinness World Record le 10 novembre. Eric produit son premier vidéoclip de la reprise de Maniac qui attirera plus de 800 000vues en un temps record.

En 2012, il fait la rencontre du Groupe Luso Pyrotecnia, qui l’amènera à interpréter une de ses œuvres originales « live » sur une plateforme flottante, pendant un spectacle pyrotechnique offert dans le cadre de l’International des Feux Loto-Québec à Montréal.

Il offre des performances à couper le souffle dans les «clubs», pour des «corpos» ou en studio avec diverses personnalités et productions de la scène canadienne et américaine. Éric a partagé la scène avec plusieurs artistes de renommée internationale comme Beast, Lee Oskar, Samian, K-Maro, Bad News Brown et T-Pain. Il a travaillé avec des organisations et productions régionales et internationales comme Franco Dragone, Juste pour Rire, Groupe Yvon Michel.

Éric a interprété les hymnes nationaux pour le combat de boxe du champion Jean Pascal (WBC) contre Chad Dawson. Il collabore régulièrement comme artiste dans les galas de boxe de GYM. Le dernier «single» d’Éric Speed est d’ailleurs dédié au nouveau champion «Middleweight» WBC de boxe, Antonin Décarie.

Plus récemment, Éric Speed s’est produit à Rome  dans un méga spectacle mis en scène par Luc Petit Créations.

De retour au pays, Éric Speed fait une première incursion dans le monde symphonique. Il interprète ses oeuvres accompagné de 60 musiciens de l’OSA ( Orchestre du Septième Art ) sur la scène du Théâtre Centennial à Sherbrooke le 21 décembre 2013.

Eric a participé à divers corporatifs importants au courant de l’année 2014 dont le spectacle à Québec, organisé par Marcel Aubut pour les athlètes olympique, se nommantle Gala Triomphe. Il a aussi participé à divers corporatifs importants au courant de l’année 2014 Éric Speed à sorti son 3e album intitulé Valiances à l’été 2014 et prépare présentement un nouvel album pour début 2016

Lu Tze is an electronic music project by Rodrigo Pereira, who first fell in love with music production as a teen in the early 90’s after getting hold of a program called Scream Tracker 3. In 1998, at the age of 18, he became one of the co-founders of the psychedelic event organizers Quest4Goa in Portugal, and in 1999 co-founded the chill-out Dj collective Divine Mission, which was present in the line-up of Boom Festival 2000. In early 2001 he moved to the UK, and soon after became a Dj and core member of the crew at the Psychedelic Dream Temple (aka PsyDMT), based in Camden Town, London. For over a decade afterwards, his Dj sets surprised and moved the crowds in alternative areas of countless squat parties, clubs and festivals in the UK, blending music styles such as psychill, electro, progressive breaks, dubstep and progressive psytrance. Lu Tze is the creative blossoming of such blend, bringing forth alternative, syncopated, progressive and psychedelic music, and is since 2023 a part of the renowned label Merkaba Music
