Today I found out my old physics professor, Joel Fajans, passed away. This hour long piece of improvisational music is a bit of a tribute to him in a way. He was a mentor of sorts during my time at Berkeley and interacted with me frequently during my time taking the instrumentation laboratory course even though he wasn’t teaching it that summer I took it and I remember back then he recommended I learn COBOL because a lot of bank and finance software was still written in it.

He even let me join his lab group where I met many people who I still talk with today. It was the wurtele-fajans plasma physics group at Berkeley which played a role in the experimental proof recently published on the effects of a gravitational field on anti matter by helping ways to trap enough anti-hydrogen at cern to essentially basically measure whether it falls up or down. It falls down for those who are curious but at the time there wasn’t any evidence for this because no one could trap enough anti-matter to measure this property. 

Of course most of this piece of music was produced in an improvisational fashion on the fly so no time to edit or change anything and little to no preparation beforehand besides messing around with some settings in an attempt to just capture some of the raw emotion and put it into sound. This is the first time also of experimenting with playing music with all my hardware and electric violin at once since I got the solar42f so there is a bit of experimentation here with that as well. I hope you enjoy it.
