Two exquisite producers meet for a sequence of unbridled mixes. UK based Galtier and Parisian Fluid Matter share a common passion for drums and multicultural percussive rhythms. Their energy and their sharp sense of building a club music, but not only, make them guests that we are proud to host! 

Galtier’s mix is an invitation to self-exploration through ambient soundscapes and throbbing bass lines. We do not forget to move as long thanks of incursions into a UK garage side that he knows well and has mastered to excellence. Right next-door Fluid matter joined him with a session that he has decided to dedicate almost exclusively to d&b, sub frequencies and hypnotic sounds. Jubilant moment perfectly executed; we are happy that he did it this way.

My name is Lucas, pronouns he/him, i'm 31. I was born and raised in Lyon, I'm currently living in Rennes where I work as an organic vegetable farmer for an association. The farm  is also a venue where we host gigs, parties and more.

What is the last song you listened to before answering this Q&A?

Using the Sampler's built in oscillator to FM anything, super powerful!

Listen to the moment at 1:11 mark in your PI mix… describe how it makes you feel?

It is a moment of growing tension, it makes me feel like I want to be in a club to hear a moment like this. I like when there’s unpredictability in a build up and with the layering of those 2 tracks at that time mark, you can’t really know when the pressure’s gonna be released.

Best gig of your life so far?

It would be both a gig I played and a gig I attended and it was the final afterparty of Positive Education Festival 2018. The most euphoric vibes I've seen on a dancefloor, epic set by the festival co-founders & friends Charles & Antoine as Les Fils de Jacob. 

Favorite mix in recent memory?

Ani/live number 3, livwutang at Nowadays.
Incredible blends of all kind of club music genres.
Exactly what I feel like I want to do these days, thus being far from the result. This mix is really inspiring and really resonated with me.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

I’d like to see more clubs & venues in France like Macadam in Nantes : no pictures/video, nice sound system, inclusive policy and constant communication on how to behave in a club & a lot of smoke inside. I think we lack this kind of venue in the country. The educational part is very important because I tend to find a lot of people being disrespectful towards other people, venue staff and artists.

Galtier’s is an artist from who hones in on amalgamation as the focal point of his output; his works occupy an expansive somatic energy that has evolved significantly over his decade-long presence in the global electronic scene.
Sporadic unexpectedness in rhythmic pace and structure coupled with a coagulated sense of mood is the formula for Galtier’s production ons and DJ sets; a willingness to explore change and progression in sound while maintaining a sense of driven cohesion has been a driving force throughout his foray into sound design.
Galtier has offered up mixes on reputable platforms that include Fact Mag, XLR8R, Inverted Audio, Rinse France and has contributed endlessly to the enormity of independent music publications ons that are making humble moves. Throughout, minimal restrictions on BPM and a desire to keep things ever-changing result in massive shibs in tempo throughout even a brief Galtier set. His cohesive understanding of music accompanied by his passion for creating his own unique and stylistic approach has won him admiration and respect on an international onal scale.
He has worked with such labels as Infinite Machine, NAAFI, [re]sources, TRRUENO, 10 Label and in 2015, Galtier introduced his own label Nostro Hood System to the world; nestled in the thematic concept as a label focused on the xenological discovery of an alternate galaxy to our own that sets out to showcase the musical artefacts that originate from it. The output has hosted releases from such production on greats as Amor Satyr & Siu Mata, Atrice, Amazondotcom, Siete Catorce, Aircode, Avernian and Galtier himself.

Pharaoh & Yogg - The Ultra Machine, I’m just listening through my music ahead of a gig next week in Belgium, usually I’ve got some weird floaty sounds on or a very nerdy audiobook on Biology or history haha, this is unusually heavy for my daytime / laptop admin activities.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

Sustainable, realistic opportunities for all, and more support for artists to create without compromising on time / money to survive….I think this is creating a narrower pool of people who can pursue artistry…also for nightlife, music, all creative musical pursuits, to be recognised for their true value, with support schemes set up to help people pursue and thrive in these areas…

Episode fiiiiiiiiiiive of five for this season on Relativa! The final show of my first season on RR takes a hard and fast turn as I explores half time rhythms in the first hour; spinning mutant dancehall and fast percussive techno, jumping around between 80/90bpm before heading north to 170/180 and back down and up and down and up and down.

For the second hour I'm vvvv pleased to be joined by Nostro Hood System label boss, Galtier, for a mix that’s as pounding and eclectic as the releases in the NHS back catalogue. Pushing forward unique leftfield techno and bubbling UK bass dripping with twists, Nostro Hood System steadily releases some of the most forward-thinking dance music in the game right now: spearheaded by Galtier. An esteemed producer and DJ in his own right, Galtier’s own productions can be brooding and melancholic whilst simultaneously being fast and chaotic. Celebrating the forthcoming release of a new co-EP on NHS with Druid, his mix encompasses everything that’s influencing him right now. Enjoy.
