Barba hits its 12th edition with one of the coolest records in its catalogue. Having said that, if you have an expectation on how a Barba record should sound - this one might throw you a curveball.

Russian producer Information Ghetto (aka Clapan aka Dennis Korsunski) is no stranger to Burek/Barba/Pomalo family and on this 12" he's pulling all the right moves. Both of the originals, "General Trip" and "Unused OrtoDox", are seriously trippy slow-burning 303 affairs executed flawlessly in a sort-of-a breakbeat manner.

However, the surprise comes on the flip. "General Trip" got a treatment from none other than Luke Vibert, British electronic music legend responsible for some of the most loved albums of the 90s and later. Track's signature acid line is here, and breakbeat moment is sounding as fresh as back in the day. Add an irresistible 90s reminiscent piano hook and it doesn't take a genius to realise you've got on your hands a monster tune which will send any party into overdrive. Big.  

All that, pressed onto a heavy duty 180 gram vinyl and beautifully packaged in an original artwork by EmaEmaEma​.

The water was wild and dangerous as the boat moved across the dense, blue expanse. The sails were rattling against the frame of the ship and inside the cabins people began to get nervous and concerned for their own safety. There was a banging noise which was loud and oppressive - it hurt the ears and silenced alarms upon deck. The storm had been forecast and predicted for some time but nobody had known that it might hit with as much abrupt and abrasive force as this. The Pacific drums echoed loudly in the air as the clouds rolled in overhead. 

Jad & The is set to release a new EP described as "an ode to his ocean side upbringing". It draws upon a deep rooted love of abstract electronics and the ethereal sounds sometimes associated with dream house. The release will soon be available on Beats Of No Nation.

Titled ‘Lost in X’, the Budapest-based producer takes his signature sound, previously displayed through labels like Magicwire, Chruch and Unknown To The Unknown, further, deeper, and more refined. Over the course of this four track 12″, he infuses underwater soundscapes with outer space, chunky electro beats with dusty organs, dark warehouse vibes with soul wrenching satellite bleeps and 707 drums with cheesy synth solos.

So last autumn Gestalt Records had 10 demo tick in and from the onset it was pretty apparent that we were going to put some of them out. They tried picking out 4-5 but to no avail, as the 10 tracks were inseperable. Anyhow they ended up taking on the whole lot on, to be released as a double album split into 2 installments.'Pt. I'  is an effortless blend of breaks, bass and ambient, drawing heavily on artists such as Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin and Pluxus. This is (in our opinion) a pretty valiant release and a bit 'outside the box', but definitely something that warrants a physical manifestation.

PREMIERE: Bobo - I (Pt. I)

Searching for new ways to express himself, Maarten Smeets (one half of Detroit Swindle) has found a new perspective on music in his alter ego “Wanderist”. Here, he shares his unique view on contemporary electronic music with strong influences from dub, electro, techno and ambient in tempo’s that match the intensity, funk and drive of his sound. 

We feature Dauwd's remix of the title track 2r2t, which fizzes into action from the off. The bassline meanders around the mix in a ferocious yet controlled manner, driving the track forward throughout, whilst serving as the primary melodic device. Shades of Wanderist's original are brought through and warped by Dawud, showcasing once more his adept nous for reimagination. One for club IRL but it works just fine for transporting you there for now.
