Irish producer and DJ Or:la has released a new EP, Moonlight Crush, via our in-house label, fabric Originals.

Created to be experienced in a club or rave where Or:la feels most at home, Moonlight Crush is filled with heavy rhythmic synths and organs, reminiscent of losing yourself on the dancefloor. The scent of smoke machines and sweat is thick in the air, lit only by the hint of a full moon. 

As a multifaceted producer, DJ, and label owner, known for her dynamic and genre-spanning creations, Or:la’s artistic journey has taken her from the tranquil and remote landscapes of Inch Island in Ireland to the vibrant nightlife scenes of some of the world’s most iconic venues. 

Now based in Liverpool, Orlagh Dooley has become an integral part to the clubbing scene as a promoter and queer community builder pouring her heart and soul back into the place she found her own musical voice. Known for her diverse showcasing of genres, across UK bass, tribal house, deep house, breakbeat, acid, and 90’s techno, Or:la’s ability to draw connections between the subtleties of these genres is what sets her apart from the rest.

Spray’s Punctuality arrives sharp for its second instalment, rolling out the velvet carpet to welcome LA’s royal rave highness Etari. Kweenie is her inauguration, a no-nonsense exhibition of prog tonkers and tech pumpers accompanied by a wild remix from Angel D’lite.

Deep in the heart of the angel’s city resides Etari, the west coast icon of boundless rave energy. Having graced the kingdoms of 100% Silk and Delusional Records previously with a wily array of hardcore dance styles, Spray’s Punctuality is the next stop. Etari duly obliges his invitation with Kweenie, a new iteration of her sound that develops her twisted club fantasies beyond the clouds, or at least as far as the lasers will carry. 

Clocking in and the title track throws down from the off, shaking its royal rump that’s fit for a Kweenie before bumping its soaring bassline along its naughty groove. Angel D’Lite heeds the remix call, kickin’ it rage style with a breakbeat pumper that harkens to jungle tekno past while straddling future prog pastures. Lulu Limon gets freakier on side B, as Etari zests its anaesthetised groove with clicks and pops while gliding down its minimalised wormhole of latent psychedelia. Racehorse is last out the gate, initiating a heads-down stomper of tech(no) consequence that gallops cute but serious with club tenacity along its majestic travels, and thus concluding Punctuality’s latest transmission.

Our next release comes from a place very close to home, with our resident Lisene’s debut album. As one of the originators of the psychedelic prog-trance hybrid sound so ubiquitous within today’s music scene, the “Science Friction” LP is his love letter to the genre, as well as all of the various influences that have shaped his sound over the years. 

Created over several years with a perfectionist’s attention to detail, “Science Friction” flits between moods and sonic environments with ease while retaining the cohesion of Lisene’s inimitable production style. Despite being an album, this is still very much a record for the DJs, featuring heads-down club tracks and bass-heavy electro crafted with precision and a cinematic sense of scale. For the home listeners, expansive slo-mo soundscapes and cerebral synth odysseys float high above the clouds, with widescreen details revealing themselves ever further with each re-play.

“This album has been 15 years in the making and represents a culmination of everything I’ve worked towards in defining my own sound and style without letting myself be pigeonholed. I’m immensely proud of each track -  it really reflects where I was at musically while making this, while giving a glimpse into my future sound. This is a record that deserves to be played on the finest sound systems and hi-fis, and I couldn’t be more happy with how it’s turned out. Dive in and enjoy!” 

Combining influences from across the spectrum of dance music with a cinematic sense of psychedelia and his own inimitable production skills, “Science Friction” is sure to see a lot of airtime across the festivals, after-parties and living rooms of the world this summer and beyond.

For our next release of 2024 Command D, the dynamic Australian artist residing on Gadigal land, returns to Pure Space with his next EP, "New Devices."

"New Devices" is a testament to resilience and innovation, instigated by the theft of his laptop and loss of production files in motion. The need to start the EP journey afresh led to a subsequent shift in his music production methods. As Command D explains, "The tracks came from the production of my first live set and are a representation of my workflow during this time. Most elements were made using a more hands-on/'live take' approach."

Opening the EP, "Swallow" captivates with its low slung bass and swirling percussion. Let the dubbed out synthesis warm you as you drift into the abyss, with the four to the floor beat keeping you grounded through the dance.

Next up is "Madman," a heady and energising cut that continues Command D’s exploration into deep dance grooves. The staunch synthesis keeps your head down until the dub chords lift you up. One fitting for sunrise or sunset, up to you really..

"CG Phrase" introduces more intensity released only as the swirling atmospheres lift. The track toys with tension as it pulls you deeper into the sonic vortex.

The EP culminates with "Heavy Clouds," a cathartic and heavenly composition that offers a moment of introspective rapture. Its ethereal melodies and soothing rhythms provide a serene contrast to the preceding tracks, closing the EP on a contemplative note.

Command D's exploration into new generation dub techno continues to evolve, with "New Devices" pushing the boundaries of his production ever-onwards. His style, characterised by sonically rich and murky tones and meticulous attention to detail, remains a hallmark of his work; an auditory journey that is both captivating and transformative. Bliss out.

Astro returns with a high-octane collection of tracks, peaking at the dizzy heights of 138 BPM, engineered for late night club moments and steeped in early 00s/90s influences.  We were fortunate to have Cape Town's own Biodive for a remix, bringing a driving yet minimal sound, effortlessly captivating listeners.

A1, Subatomic, seizes the spotlight with its relentless, driving energy. It immerses us in a 2001 trance soundscape, featuring sharp synth lines and dynamic vocal chops, while echoing, panned stabs enhance the track's deep, otherworldly ambiance.

River Torque, panning UFO pads from a different dimension, shifting gears with precision. A tunnelling groove locks in, firing us straight into peak-time. Direct, relentless, and built for the highest intensity—this one drives everything forward. No escape, just pure momentum.

A3 sees Astro reconnect with his dub-techno origins, pulling in the deep, atmospheric vibes of his early work. Basic Channel-inspired textures are unmistakable, but here they surge. Reverb-soaked layers cascade over a pumping 909, while razor-sharp hats slice through the fog, propelling the track into a hypnotic, futuristic drive.

Wormhole is your go-to for testing low-end limits—bass-heavy, deep, and undeniable. This might be the most floor-shaking, post-pumping Astro track yet. The rich, undying textures crafted from the Blofeld Waldorf deliver sweeping alien FX, creating a soundscape that feels both immersive and extraterrestrial.

Biodive is one of those rare artists who can take a track to another level, almost transcending into another dimension. This remix embodies a minimal yet fierce Detroit sound—stripped down but powerful, hitting with precision and intensity. It’s the perfect choice to close out the EP, leaving a lasting impression with its raw energy and driving beat.

On the imprint’s latest, Oath takes the vibrations right up into the slipstreams via Elfenberg’s latest slice of proggy, euphoria driven excellence….

Elfenberg has become a well known figure within dance music spheres for his expertly crafted and otherworldly chuggy sound. Taking cues from a wide variety of influences, Elfenberg’s music slots in very nicely within the most celebrated of trance laden progressive house and techno - with his signature twist always allowing for a few surprises along the way. Each release he has brought to the fore has provided another string to his impressive bow, fuelling the dance and the emotions with delicate, poised techniques. As much as his tunes are dance floor orientated, his sound has a subtly and deftness to it, an enchanted rhythmic and melodic blend that gives over so much to the listener. His sound ensnares the senses, providing moments to get lost within and moments in which to let yourself go - a music universe that has always remained acutely blended and emotionally poised.

‘Ritmo Paradiso’ contains all of Elfenberg’s signature motifs, but as always it's an EP which spreads itself sonically wide but presents a soundscape which is razor sharp in its focus. The title track swings into view with a deep, pulsating bass and drum loop, which shifts frequency to draw focus to the high hat that slides into the mid section. Acidic flavourings wash over the top of the groove, with the core melodic driver emerging from the mid range. Percussive elements add texture and forward momentum, with slowly evolving pads creating a gentle yet expansive backdrop. ‘Vasastan’ comes next, and this one seeks a different kind of feeling. A spaced out, IDM leaning rhythm provides the basis for a lucid acid line to permeate from side to side. The stage is set for all manner of wondrous melodic features to present themselves, from the flowery keys through to the swelling synths, it's an audial whirlpool in which to get lost over and over again.

It seems with every Elfenberg record, there’s a journey to be undertaken and a tale to be enjoyed, and this one is no different. From the word go, the rhythms are intoxicating, the melodies are otherworldly, and the overall sensation is one of progressive excellence. Always on the move, eager to showcase more, it's a truly tantalising experience - and one that Oath is beyond thrilled to present….
