Hitting the sweet spot between dynamic workout and tranquil bliss, Dexter Colt's debut EP has a timeless quality to it. Spanning five club cuts that nod to '90s tech-house, Detroit-style techno and classic house, each one coated in a lustrous and futuristic glaze, Train of Thought celebrates the Singapore-based producer's rich understanding of dance music.

Crafted with an array of synthesisers, the record boasts luxuriously soft pads, deep melodies–portals to self-reflection or escapism–and rolling drums that keep listeners locked in a hypnotic groove. The slow-burning "AM To PM" sets the mood with minimal yet deliciously heady notes that Indonesian boogie master Munir later transforms into a funky, electro-influenced number. "U Feel Me" builds dancefloor pressure through crisp claps and a rhythmic, undulating bassline that doesn't quit. "Spiralling" is a Fatima Yamaha-style seducer with acidic squiggles that lend the track a psychedelic touch. Punchy drums and chopped vocals steal the show on "Off The Brons," an easy floor filler that showcases the power of a simple arrangement. Finally, "Front Shuv" offers seven minutes of blissful house music with a mystical flute sample that tugs at the heartstrings.

Equally kinetic as it is meditative, Train of Thought journeys across hard-hitting and silky styles of club music. Made for the mind, body and soul, it guarantees to deliver through all hours of the night.

Klasse Wrecks is happy to welcome new Berlin-based producer Jotel California to the family. The emerging young artist provides a strong and varied EP that introduces his deft production skills and understanding of balanced sonics. 'Borrowed Time' traces the lines of traditional electro but stirs the pot with new flavours and the result is something that is both unique and powerful. Late 90s Techno is referenced on the title track, a dark and haunting driver that emerges into euphoria later on in the journey. While the A1 features the cut up vocals of Babyblade and takes the listener on a pulsing trip that thrashes back and forth before restlessly settling down

To coincide with the release of @eddiemerced 'Spies In Berlin' EP on American label @r4808nrecordings, today we focus on the final track 'Spooks 101' - a sizzling low-slung voyager for deep house heads.

After “Orpheus” dropped last April with DJ support by chief musical dispensers like Ben Sims, Call Super, Loraine James, Carista, Ben UFO, Danielle, Optimo’s JD Twitch, Nazira, Erol Alkan and more, the second outing of this new, revitalised One Eyed Jacks is yet another Photonz single leading up to the release of his forthcoming album “Communal Sweat” dropping later this year also on the label.

On “The Sun And The Moon”, OEJ label-head Photonz shows his lighter side, with sun-tinged piano hooks alternating nocturnal sentimentality, pointillist bleeps and a stripped-back snappy house beat with no extra adorn or distractions. On “White Pelican”, the second original on this single, things get a bit more abstract and intricate with angular and dialoguing grooves and sounds, laid out and organised in a live arrangement and cooked up for late sets and trippier electro-techno fantasies.


On remix services we’ve got two up-and-coming greats from Portugal and France: Lisbon-based Brazilian dj, producer and activist Cigarra steps in to transform the title-track into a fast-paced, footwork-modelled bass attack while retaining the original’s summery appeal; Parisian well-kept secret and Photonz occasional collaborator Keumel instead turns “The Sun And The Moon” into an elegant, patiently-passed acid/deep house hybrid, focusing more on its melancholy and emotive flair, and bringing it home with a dub-techno sensibility on the FX.

Artwork is once again by Príncipe-affiliated and FLUR Records record pusher Márcio Matos, responsible for the visual identity of the label since day one. Mastering by Justin Drake of Peace Division.

Reformed Society joins the roster of Brussel’s, Belgium’s Basic Moves this June with a 2x12’’ EP, comprising six original compositions from the New Delhi born now Barcelona based artist.

After developing a friendship and sharing music in recent years, Basic Moves boss Walrus welcomes Indian artist Harsh Puri onto the imprint for a special double pack vinyl release. The material was gradually reduced down to the six compositions that make up BM19 after received over a hundred demo tracks from Harsh the past few years. Much of the release is inspired by UK tech house of the late nineties and the turn of the millennium and embraces a heads down, dance floor focused aesthetic throughout.

Opening the release is ‘Constant State Of Hustle’, perfectly setting the tone with an amalgamation of bubbling synthesizer tones, a choppy bass groove, sporadic pads and a heavily swung drum groove. ‘Touch’ then shifts focus over to fluttering stab sequences, bright chords, airy strings and a crunchy rhythm section before ‘Hammer The Keys’ embraces the core essence of the early Tech House sound, fusing organic percussion with multilayered machine funk melodies, all infused with an underlying acid feel.

Next up is ‘Hug Pit’ which dives into deep realms via ethereal, cinematic pad textures, wandering resonant synth lines and shuffled drums. The aptly named ‘Adrenaline Rush’ follows next, picking up the pace again courtesy of a gnarly bass melody, squelchy synth tones and a robust drum machine workout. ‘Dream Shuttle’ then rounds out the release, employing hazy atmospheric textures and a bumpy bass groove alongside dynamic, crisp drums.

NY label HOMAGE is forever flipping the script, whether it's raucous techno and experimental sounds from their founder Ryan Clover, ambient soundscapes from Myles Avery, or acidic goodness from Aldonna, they live and die by the label's tagline that 'the limit does not exist.'

Now it's Parisian DJ & producer Cheval's (@chevalsmusic) time to turn the tides once again, following up from his first EP on HOMAGE back in 2018; with his six-track exploration 'The House By The Sea'.

'EuroMadness' undocks and sets sail across the Mediterranean bridging uplifting and curious melodies coupled with peak-time euphoria and 90s nostalgia. 'Persiennes' brings with it a rush of emotions and transports us back to our youth, where the life-changing melodies of trance music's origins could be heard piercing through our speakers. 'Strummers' then brings forth images of rolling hills and pale blue skies as we move closer to shore, before 'Breeze' enters the fray with its Balearic-infused warmth. The EPs penultimate track 'Sunsets' energy is infectious, with chunky kick drums and ear-wiggling hooks pushing the energy levels higher as day turns to night. 'Astra' then finishes off the release with an expansive look outward as we gaze over the reflective blue surface of the ocean city. 

'House By The Sea' will be available to purchase digitally on July 21st.

Ambient synths, a deep bassline and trickling plucks form ‘The Prelude’, this is the introduction to an LP oozing character, told by Allergy Season and Heist artist John Barera & Beats In Space affiliate Brian Abelson. After being eased in by the opener, title track ‘The Arc’ picks up speed with hypnotic arpeggios and doom-spelling harmonies, working in unison to build up tension throughout its five minute runtime.

This is before toucan sounds’ resident vocalist Brandon Markell Holmes enters with a soft-sung ballad, Barera and Abelson’s intricate instrumentation forming a subtle and effective backbone to Holmes’ unrivalled voice. This is a varied album, touching on groove-laden dance tracks like ‘I Was There’ and ‘I Am Free’, to the sluggish trip of ‘I Believe’. Summarising the LP perfectly, ‘The Return’ closes out the release with the infectious strum of a bass guitar and carefully designed layers of melody that, much like the rest of the full-length, speaks endlessly to the imagination. 

Once dubbed one of the “New York techno scene’s hardest working DJs” by Resident Advisor, John Barera has honed his craft via his Cross Street label, as well as appearances on labels such as Soul Clap and Dolly. His style ranges from techno, electro through to house and acid, and has seen him grace the halls of influential international clubs like Panorama Bar, Fabric, Razzmatazz, and many more. 

Brian Abelson is responsible for co-producing and writing records on labels like Beats in Space, Sinderlyn and more, all while holding down a residency at New York’s celebrated Bossa Nova Civic Club. After a recent glimpse at collaboration via their 2022 ‘Myrtle Ave Wetlands’ on Sorry Records, NYC scene stalwarts Abelson and Barera now team up for an LP rooted in left-field house music, combining their wealth of influences and experience to deliver a quality vinyl album full of unique artistic expression.

Mark Hawkins has been a mainstay of Aus Music and the underground scene for years. He is an accomplished studio wizard who can do a dizzying array of styles with equal energy and emotion. His adaptability has kept him en vogue ever since he first emerged from the UK party scene in the 90s. He has played all over the world but now focuses on refining his production and engineering skills evermore as he follows up his recent LP on the label with this fresh new offering. ‘Open Hearted' rides on a broken beat electro rhythm with surging chords washing over you like a wave of emotion. An aloof but sensuous female vocal is a perfect hook as the kinetic drums make you move, and the psychedelic synths stay busy in the background. The equally brilliant 'Let U Fall' is a gorgeous and bright house cut with an alluring R&B vocal. There are hints of modern hip-hop production in the snappy snares and colourful synth details, while rich piano chords and driving drums are sure to sweep the dance and floor up and away.
