She'd noticed a change in his temperament, it wasn't just the puffed up eyes and wet cheeks that were a giveaway. His door remained closed and his conversations had been reduced to one or two word sentences. She knew she didn't have to say much, she just wanted to let him know she was there; an ear for anything he wanted to divulge, whenever that may be. She didn't have all the answers but she had all the time in the world to listen to him.

To mark mental health awareness month, South London-based cassette label Sticky Tapes have rounded up several producers for a six-track mini-comp titled ‘hey, do you need someone to talk to?’. Known for their charity-indebted tape mixes, which have featured contributions from Violet and ELLES, CC:DISCO! and Barbara Boeing and many others, this new comp comes as a digital only release this time round and brings together the likes of Tim Reaper, Ell Murphy & Picasso, PRAYER, IN2STELLAR, Theo Everyday and Kitsta.

As always all proceeds from the release will be donated to charity, and this time round they're focusing on three mental health helplines, The Samaritans, SANEline and Switchboard, who are all doing incredible work for those who need someone to talk to when they need it most.

To raise further awareness of the helplines, Sticky Tapes will be posting 500 posters all over London that feature rip tickets with the helpline numbers.

Bristol-based producer Remotif has lovingly curated a selection of tunes from some of his favourite producers for Stranger Together, a VA compilation aimed at raising funds for the International Rescue Committee (IRC). 

IRC is currently assisting with emergency resettlement for Afghan refugees. Afghanistan is the single country most at risk of deteriorating humanitarian crises in 2022, and 100% of the profits from this release will provide uprooted families with tents, clean water, sanitation and other basic necessities.

This 11 track release taps into a diverse selection of dancefloor tracks from producers across the world, offering everything from uplifting melodic house to dark, psychedelic techno - and everything in between.  

VÉRE leads the charge, easing the listener in with a salvo of ethereal pads and breakbeats on Only Just, before passing the baton on to Maara for her dark and trippy roller Going All The Way Up. Dylan Forbes drops shimmering house number Feels Like, which segues nicely into the effervescent uptempo sparkle of Manami’s Sunbeams. 
Remotif’s emotive, Final Fantasy-inspired The Golden Shiny Wire of Hope continues this uplifting energy before giving way to DJ Life’s trademark Aussie tech-prog funk with The Barrens. Alphonse’s Still Eye offers a propulsive, skitterish breakbeat workout and Ciel & Roberto switch things up with the bass-heavy machine groove of Deep FM.  

Ramu’s Nothing Else To Do adds a dash of hyperkinetic acid and LUXE’s Level Up hits hard with some truly stomach-churning basslines. To round off the compilation, Boulderhead deploys his trademark flavor of lean, wiggy trance-not-trance with Leaf Power Up.

Also pay some attention to the rest of this VA release on EYA Records as the tracks by Sohrab and Fasme are really fresh as well and as if it wouldn't be enough the labels rounds it up with a re-issue of a throbbing slow-burner from mid-90s Danish duo UFO.

After two successful VA Releases, Apranik Records returns with their Debut EP "Polychrome," by label co-founders Nesa Azadikhah and AIDA. Spanning House, Techno, and Breaks, “Polychrome” highlights both artists’ versatile backgrounds as DJs and producers. Drawing inspiration from their multifaceted journeys in the world of music, the EP is composed to be eclectic yet entirely cohesive. A shared theme of searching for a home or foundation connects Nesa’s “Where Can Be Home” and AIDA’s “Unknown Journey,” both of which embody forward-moving, polyrhythmic progressions and evoke complex emotions through their lead and pad choices. The other tracks, AIDA’s “Chant” and Nesa’s “Levitate,” showcase each artist’s affinity for house and dark atmospheres. In “Chant,” AIDA blends her signature house and acid sound with muffled frame drums and Sufi chants, reflecting her Iranian heritage. The acid elements link seamlessly with Nesa’s “Levitate,” a focused, groovy track crafted for the dance floor. This release is the third from the label, after two VA’s titled Woman, Life, Freedom and Intended Consequence. Both VA’s showcased a diverse array of music from Iranian women artists in order to draw attention to the strength and boldness of Iranian women and their fight against an oppressive regime. The success of the past two releases was evident in widespread media coverage by Resident Advisor, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Crack Magazine, Billboard, BBC, and more.

Yuuta is back on Loose Records with a driving techno EP combining hardgroove rhythms, tribal influences, and analogue sounds.

This is the second time that Yuuta has featured on Loose, and it includes two original tracks by the Colombian artist. Each of the tracks have his trademark style with fast-paced drums, immersive atmospherics, funky stabs, and hypnotic melodies.

The title track, "Coyote" has flickering synth bursts and sinister vocals combined with a menacing melody and tribal drums.
