"As Typeless steps into its fourth release, label head Aloka turns eyes and ears to the horizon with a shapeshifting drop of breakbeat, electro and ambient. Fusing together textural arrangements and genre hybrids, he sets his sights on
experimentation with ‘Inta’.

The opening track ‘Inta’ moves with a dreamy, indirect gaze and wistful melodies as though sighing itself into existence. Amongst it all sits a subtle beat which carries it into the dancefloor realm, yet it’s when they apex together that its weight blooms from the core.

CMD aka Corina MacDonald is a Montreal-based DJ, producer and host of the program Modular Systems on CKUT 90.3 FM. She has released on JACKTONE, EXPERIMENTAL HOUSEWIFE’S PERFECT LOCATION RECORDS, FUR TRADE RECORDINGS, and BASIC_SOUNDS. For her vinyl debut, “Social Factory Reset”, she brings us four entrancing, slightly dubby and acidic techno dance floor cuts perfect for the smooth edges of the late night.The A-side opens up with the title track “Social Factory Reset”, modular jacking techno with an infectious acid swell and patient pads. “Shaping Inner Space” is an apt title. The tempo is slightly faster than A1, and it sounds like an extraterrestrial night out. Euphoric synth twists bring in the break while the bass drum toys with the rhythm only to zap it back home with the force of cosmic gravity.“Dream-Life Cycles” opens up the B-side tough, with an acid line and bass drum syncopation sure to bring out the stomp. Modular tweets fire off in stereo; harmonic pads bring in the harmony; and a nuanced and pleasantly surprising vocal line brings the euphoria on home. “Body Locked” closes the EP with an athletic, cosmic techno track that doesn’t shy away from the trance palette. After a brief lockdown-prompted hiatus - Duncan Forbes and his new 49North imprint, return for their 3rd outing... a 4-track EP, made up of 2 DF originals and a remix of each. One from the universally revered UK House & Techno don, Mr G; and the other courtesy of Pépe - without doubt one of the most in-demand artists on the underground right now.

The neon-lit, analogue House of 'Bluer Than Blue' kicks things off - it's liquid melodies and propulsive rhythm reeling you right in from the get-go.

'The Next Step' meanwhile, is a vast and sonoros, breakbeat-driven beast - chocked full of otherwordly atmosphere and an alluring sense of the mystical.

Close pal and DF collaborator - Mr G, then takes the shimmering, multi-color heart of 'Bluer Than Blue' and distills it down into one super-tight, bare-bones, swing-loaded roller; topped off with a seductive whispered vocal, skating rides and a perfectly-poised low-end lead.

That is before Pépe wraps things up with his unique spin on 'The Next Step'; for which he keeps the signature mood more or less intact - but brings a more euphoric, wide-eyed optimism to proceedings, as well as an inspired ethereal-meets-junglist central character.

The trail of breadcrumbs Parisian artist Keumel has left behind him thus far leaves the possibilities wide open for his debut album. The result of a residency away from the distractions of the city, The Quiet Face Of A Silent Storm arrives on Diffuse Reality in an electrifying rush of machine funk – a consolidated creation sprung from a focused period of inspiration.

Keumel’s journey into electronic music production began during an extended period staying in San Francisco 10 years ago, during which time he connected more deeply with the American club music tradition. On his return to Paris he became immersed in the city’s party scene with his Jekyll&Hyde crew, as well as forging vital connections in Brussels. Following a breakthrough track released on respected house label Local Talk, Keumel went on to self-release a number of EPs before hooking up with Chez Damier’s Inner Balance Records and the LumieresLaNuit and Bleu Nuit labels.

Throughout these releases the Keumel sound has taken shape as a fluid distillation of influences ranging from Detroit techno and electro via Chicago and European acid to the many manifestations of bass music from the UK and elsewhere, not to mention his parents’ voluminous, eclectic record collection and the pervading echoes of French touch which soundtracked his youth.

Since his uncle first passed him seminal 90s albums from the likes of Roni Size, Massive Attack and Aphex Twin, Keumel has been on a journey of discovery which culminates in this honest, faithful collection of tracks. It’s a physical experience which holds true to the dancefloor, but in line with his influences, these are also pieces of electronica to be listened to and savoured – much more than simple DJ tools. And in true album style, it moves through varying degrees of energy and intensity – at times forthright and driving, elsewhere dreamy and gentle.

In Keumel’s life outside the music, there were chaotic factors which couldn’t help but feed into the resulting tracks. In that sense, it’s a faithful document of where he’s reached on his own journey – an album as a moment in time, tacitly reflecting on what has passed and gearing up for ideas and inspiration yet to come.

Having spent the last twenty-five years producing under the FBA moniker, this will be the first time Matthew Puffett has released under his own name. Having been a pivotal player in the early days of the British Techno scene, Puffett has spent the last decade based in Berlin, where he has continued to release music to critical acclaim.

Having experimented with ambient and soundtrack work on recent FBA releases, Lower The Anchor sees this side of Puffett’s production work come to the forefront for the first time. The idea is to digitally release a new track every four to six weeks, eventually collecting them into a physical compilation.

Leading here with the titled track ‘Lower The Anchor’ as single one, accompanied with the sleazy anthemic dub version.

Glassio readies ‘Summertime (Kept the Blues Away)’ for toucan sounds this December, featuring a remix from Robert PM. 

Originally appearing on the 2020 album ‘For The Very Last Time’, Irish-Iranian musician Glassio’s ‘Summertime (Kept the Blues Away)’, a sun-soaked slice of indie pop, receives the remix treatment on toucan sounds. The release sees Glassio revisit his track alongside a remix from label boss Robert PM, dropping ahead of their New Years Eve party at Mercury Lounge in New York City, which features Glassio and French Horn Rebellion on the lineup. Flipping ‘Summertime (Kept the Blues Away)’ into a deep and driving cut, Robert PM introduces a 4/4 pattern, fluttering arps, and resonant low-end into the mix, making for a dynamic and engaging listen from start to finish. Following this is Glassio’s own ‘Italo Mix’, with lively claps, heavy-hitting disco toms, and a chugging bassline making way for classic Italo-disco tropes. Closing out the EP, both the instrumental mix of Robert PM’s remix and the emotive original track appear, available exclusively to digital stores. “When I first heard the original version of this song, it reminded me of one of my favorite things to explore deep in my memories, which is summertime growing up in Wisconsin. I think back to those summers and how it seems anything was possible to happen. We can keep the blues away, we can go dancing, we can fall in love.”
