Bubbling under the bog water comes a murky oneiric vision from an astralopithecus... a primitive psychonaut lost in a realm of their own creation.

The result is a collection of spring peepers to keep you aerated and elated. A miasma of plasmatic echoes prepared with care over many blood moons.

Cydux, the alter alias of Cosmic Resonance's Hemingway, embodies James' love of rave and reve—music for slumber or sprints. To add that special something, Cosmic Resonance alum Nic Fields aka Inner Touch brings their own teamwerk into the mix, adding extra ripples to the pond.

A chance to start afresh and renew the senses which had been burdened and blinded by a cloak of darkness for far too long. There was hope this year, a chance for change. That was all they had left to cling on to as they looked forward to better days to come, when the clouds might never return. 

Eamon Harkin is best known for his role as one half of New York based party purveyors and label Mister Saturday Night. Over the years he has also released material via the likes of Argot, Coastal Haze, Throne of Blood and Subway Series. Now he is set to release a new EP via Oklahoma City based record label Fixed Rhythms. A positive EP showcasing his broad appreciation for house music and people.

For this new 12" on Fixed Rhythms, he delivers a balmy 4 track EP, simultaneously full of longing, bliss, and hope. Adeptly oscillating between techno and house, these ear-worm, tastefully catchy tracks will find themselves perfectly at home both on reopened, outdoor summer dance floors as well as on bedroom stereo systems. “Hope This Year” has a bassline that could roll forever. Soaring synths, a tastefully intricate acid line, claps, and syncopated hi-hats. It’s fresh, but with an old-school house swagger. “Latin Class” cruises through outer space at light-speed right out the gate. Some definite Eurodisco influence can be heard on this one just as much as classic house and techno. Lots of spacey panning, perfect for the late night aural trip. 

Flip to the B-side. “Ataraxy” has a funky and stabbing bass line, panned synth pings, dubby hi-hats, delayed-out pads and cosmic modular bursts. Spacey and jacky house at its finest. “People Are All That We Have” closes out the EP with a longer, heady, sensitive, emotional, beautiful journey of a track. Fitting anywhere nicely in a set, this one will definitely bring out the hugs on the dancefloor. 

“People Are All That We Have” drops Friday, June 11th on Fixed Rhythms.

Born in Dunedin NZ, Cosuma spent formative years in bands and in crowds in Otago's most important live music venues. It was here amid a wealth of talented artists and their performances that he developed a taste for an unashamed raw approach to music delivery and the response that it elicits.

Now having lived in Melbourne for the last 4 years, an increased level of exposure to dance music and its community has seen him evolve into an artist capable of channelling attitude and emotion through his machines in both a studio and live environment.

This quirky 6 tracker showcases Cosuma's raw approach to house music, with punchy, stripped back drums, warm pads and basslines from go to whoa. Vocal samples from old VCR's are cleverly woven throughout the EP taking you into Cosuma's world.

Edinburgh-based producer, Linkwood, returns with his first solo material of 2021, with the album, Mono, dropping on fellow Edinburghites’ label, Athens of the North. The album finds Linkwood opting for a more lo-fi, nostalgic sound, one of his major touchstones being 80s synth pop, replete with vintage drum machines and modular synths. This album refrains from becoming an exercise in pure revivalism, however, as Linkwood skillfully infuses these songs with electro and techno flourishes, lending the production a distinctly modern touch.

“Candy Land”, the second track off the album, sounds like it could be a long-lost Dam-Funk cut, with its West-Coast style synth squalls and glistening, sunset-evoking keys. The track starts as a kind of red herring; a heavy, fuzzy synth melody which fools the listener into believing this might be the start of a hard-hitting techno banger. However, the vibe is quickly alleviated with some jazzy, laconic house keys, modular synth washes, and elastic bass. That fuzzy opening synth squall never fully evaporates, though, as Linkwood masterfully reprises it in the second leg of the song, providing a nice structure to this otherwise low-key, funky jam-out.
	
Linkwood wrote this music as a kind of palate-cleanser from the more heady, complex music he had been devoting most of his time to as of late. There’s a sense of playfulness and freedom that reverberates throughout this entire project; the sound of an artist letting his instincts and love for 80’s music lead him into wondrous new terrain.

US artist Evade Robots turns in stunningly deep and atmospheric LP on Low Recordings this June including a remix from J. Albert.

Originally from Mcallen in South Texas, Evade Robots now lives in Los Angeles. He is a talented bass player who has been in various bands and toured for years, opening for respected players such as J. Albert, DJ Nobody and Eureka The Butcher. Evade Robots' 'Void' album is his second release on the tight-knit Low Recordings imprint as he draws on his love for LA's Low End Theory sound and culture. 

The record opens with 'Astral,' a deep, bumping but expansive rhythm with its head in the cosmos amongst smeared pads and sci-fi details. The brilliant 'Bloom' is another cavernous track. This time it's built on dusty breakbeats with subtle, hopeful chords. The mix of heady atmospheres and slick drum programming continues on the jostling 'Drift' and superbly deep and heavy 'Drive' with its organic piano chords and frayed edges. 

The warmth and soul of Evade Robots's productions shine though on 'Omni,' which journeys on slick metallic percussion, with downbeat chords adding pensive vibes over the dynamic drums. There is an acid bassline on 'Reflect', which drives it along in an irresistible fashion. The excellent 'Utopia' is another lithe rhythm doused in soulful pads and cosmic energy, while the title track explores richly melodic deep techno. Last of all, The Trilogy Tapes and Anno affiliate J.Albert remixes 'Voids' into a high-energy workout with bristling breaks and spaced-out synth work.  

'Voids' is an exceptionally charming and heady LP that trips to the outer edges of the universe.
