Banks - Warm Water (Snakehips Remix)

The All Good Funk Alliance drop a new EP featuring 4 different styles of funk for their
Super Hi-Fi label. “Make it Go-Go” featuring Big Tony of Trouble Funk has that classic DC Go-
Go sound but updated for the 2000’s. It's full of clanking percussion, horn blasts, and funky
synths making for a dope mid-tempo jam.
“Do Work” featuring Mustafa Akbar, goes for that Motown sound but updated in that
Mayer Hawthorne meets Mark Ronson way. This one is really catchy and you will find yourself
singing along to it.
“Funk This Jam” featuring Soul Suit is classic AGFA. A funky mid-tempo number that
feels like something that they would have put out on Funk Weapons back in the day. It's got call
and response vocals and insane breakdowns. Classic AGFA!
Finally we have “On - Off Boogie”. This nu-disco funk jam has got some squawky talk
box, funky beats, and really intricate synth work. It leans more on AGFA's “boogie funk” style
which rounds out this EP perfectly.

M.Jane & David Garcet roll an armed cannon into the Tulipa gardens loaded with two mysterious flowerbombs titled Les Roses and Le Vert. Each tune is a testimony to the artists' hunger to ignite rows of roses along the pond shoreline, which resides just outside of the gates. Both tracks burn the lines of flowers, causing slivers of smoldering petals to rain down upon the hillsides. Basti Grub, Garance, and Simao collect the embers and reshape them into three enigmatic forms. The luminous shapes morph into moving streams and flow between the cliff crevices. A hypnotic residue is all that remains. M.Jane & David Garcet are responsible for this.

Family antipasta. Half of a theoretical symphony. Finally, the finale... and a dialogue of stammers. Locket vandalism. Guesthouse, ash, and a gallon of cider. Neck of an avalanche. There exists a moment when pupils twist and hearts thunder. Science program exfoliation. Cheaper than the former. Moaned poems. A quintessential pipette. The clarinet comparison. Fibrous beach cruiser. Nighttime out of focus just long enough to let the breath creep in. Motel wedding with a capstone project. A hand waved for myths. We smeared handkerchiefs. Surf through a sea of steam. Bottled emotions and the torrential briskness. Rake the hoard. Nappy Campfire.

Breger a global cow magician, has made some astounding inferences about the emotions of a Labyrinth. He writes that: 'the working began in 2016, just prior to the wave of unexplained aerial phenomena now recalled as the Great Flying Beach Flap: we opened a picnic basket and something flew out.' Another EP with essential originator Neo Disco tunes!
LCD Soundsystem’s Nancy Whang, Munk, Peter Herbert and a balearic jam by two obscure German Disco lovers called: The GB’s.
It’s 2017 and suddently Disco vibes are everywhere again: From festivals like Dekmantel to the funky DJ style of opinion-leading DJ’s like Black Madonna or Mall Grab. From the never ending DJ Harvey hype to the massively increased disco edits vinyl market. Former techno DJ’s like Pachanga Boys, Dixon or DJ Koze suddenly release discoish mixtapes or funky remixes. (DJ Koze's Lapsley Rmx. DJ Dixon's RA 2016 podcast).
If you went to a club in Berlin this summer the chance was big that instead of dancing to melancholic Deep House  you were stepping your feets to Disco Edits. The Disco vibe seems to take over House and Techno. 
And as Munk and the German Gomma label were among the first ones to release new styles of electronic disco a few years ago - it makes sense to  release some  essential stuff that started the wave.

The Gomma Disco Jams EP 2 features:

Nancy Whang & Etienne de Crecy: Comme un aigle
LCD Soundsystem’s female voice Nancy Whang did a big disco tribute EP on Gomma 2013. New versions of classic tracks from the Casablanca records catalogue.( The classic disco label from the 1970ies). One of the 5 new interpretations was a french version of Steve Miller’s Like an eagle. This one is mad.

Belgique Disco innovators THE GLIMMERS remixed by Pete Herbert & Tristan de Cunha. A salsa piano disco house tune that will work heavy on baleric dance floors as well as on the harder clubs - when the nasty moment come in.

Munk - Down in LA - Shazam Remix
That Disco remix that was German Disco innovator Munk’s second big mover (after his collabo with James Murphy). 
The bassline! The piano solo! That voice!


The GB’s_ Lucky in Vichy. A 10 minutes balearic disco extravaganza. Smooth like a cocktail on an Ibiza beach. This one has never really been picked up in a bigger way, but probably that was good. No hype around that beautiful track. 
Isn't it amazing how fresh these tracks sound in 2017?

The classroom roared with laughter as the announcement was made. In the corner of the room the teacher watched on with a sense of thoughtful poignancy. Often their dominance was what scared and inspired other children into laughter. Now, with a bashful look upon his face Lou walked slowly back to his chair to reflect on the loss. The teacher sighed. 

Leon Revol is set to release a new EP on Beats Of No Nation. It will be the fourth in their catalogue and comes from the24 year old Bordeaux based producer who has previously released music on the likes of Kolour, Secret Reels, Future Disco, and Monologues.

Play It Down brings together many of its veteran artists for the 100th release, which, in the current incarnation of the label, will also be its last.

A word from Jesse Rose:
“It’s been an amazing rollercoaster of a ride with Play It Down and when asked why I would stop releasing in its current incarnation the answer was obvious. I’ve always been very involved in the A&R process of all the releases. I’ve always felt confident to tell an artist if something should be taken out or added because I have spent (near enough) every weekend for the last two decades in a club, listening and playing House music. I would test the demos in my sets and know automatically what felt right and what felt wrong. If I’m not playing in clubs it wouldn’t feel right for me to tell someone who is playing shows every weekend how their record should sound. And ultimately, Play It Down for me has been about finding music I've wanted to play in my sets. So for the minute it’s a massive thank you to all the artists, fellow DJs, supporters, club-goers,
distributors, journalists, radio presenters, interns, promoters, bootleggers, and to Laura (who has worked day-in & day-out overseeing near every part of the label for the past five years) for letting us come up with dreams that all of you have helped make a reality.

We can't remember a producer that has hit the ground running with such an accomplished and well rounded sound as Leon Revol. Since his debut on Monologues alongside Laurence Guy, everything he has made has hit all the right notes, a cosmic and spacey sound that is also as warm as a midsummer night in Bordeaux, the hometown of Monsieur Revol.

Today's premiere comes from his forthcoming EP entitled Lou Bet Sou on Beats Of No Nation, a label set up by Dom Bird, Jad Lee and Sean Bate. This is their 4th outing, having previously unleashed music by The Chord Memory Band (a project by founder Dom Bird), Jad & The (a moniker used by other founding father Jad Lee) & Super Fun Bumper Edition (a collaboration between Charles Murdoch and Jad Lee).

If Terry Was In D starts with gorgeous Rhodes scales, twirling, always twirling around the stereo field, closely accompanied by a syncopated kick and loose chord progressions. Leon wastes no time getting the percussion section going, all the time various elements meandering in and out of your consciousness. There are so many wonderful little musical phrases in this track, it takes a couple of listens to appreciate what is going on. Complimenting each other like fine cuisine, all the ingredients blend together to create a mouthwatering masterpiece. The whole EP is a complete package of varying guises of house and Leon has executed each one with style. It seems like each record he puts out, there is more and more to like about this guy and we at Bolting Bits cannot wait to hear more from him and of course our friends down under at Beats Of No Nation.

If you monitor the house music scene coming out of Hong Kong, a name that you've probably heard of before is Romain Fx. For the past 10 years or so, Romain has been a key innovator in the HK scene, spearheading fresh concepts such as Roofest, the island's first rooftop festival and organizing monthly parties called ROAM in which he brings international artists such as Jayda G, Move D, Habibi Funk, Demuja to the city. Even if you're not too familiar with what is happening over that part of the world, you might even recognize him from his extensive touring in Europe, where he's played alongside the likes of Breakbot, Classixx, Kaytranada, College, Kolombo, Gigamesh, LNTG, FKJ, and many more.

In his latest effort, the French musician sets out with his Los Angeles brethren of Fantastic Voyage to release a collection of edits ranging from afro house to obscure disco cuts. The tune we're premiering for you guys today is an edit of Kamzu's song Indaba Kabani, which came out of South Africa during the early 90s. For those who love the original, you'll be happy to find out that RFX pays a lot of respect to it; choosing not to alter the original in a dramatic fashion. Instead, RFX simply makes it a tool that can easily be incorporated in DJ sets for you and me to unleash on the dancefloor! He's truly doing God's work here and we thank him for it.

Our next premiere comes to you from rhythm section aficionado Contours. After the much acclaimed Loose Wood EP back in 2016, North West is the Manchester Producer’s second release for Shall Not Fade. North West is brimming with all the delicacies we have come to expect from a Contours EP:  jazzy rhodes chords, tasty sax licks, and incredibly intricate polyrhythmic drum patterns.

Our choice cut from the EP is the title track, North West. The track opens with an airy repeating trumpet line that slowly rises much like the morning fog, as shimmering bells begin to sway around in the mix like a brisk gust on wind chimes. This eventually gives way to an entrancing conga pattern that pitters and patters like rain drops on a roof. Eventually a 2-step kick comes in and adds even further bounce to the track. On North West, Contours showcases his unique ability to fuse jazz and afro-beat influences into a pulsing thought provoking journey through a misty and grayscale terrain. When it comes to seriously good disco chuggers or edits, it’s fair to say that Orlando’s Sleazy McQueen, head honcho of Whiskey Disco and it’s sublabel Lovedancing, has the Midas touch for quite some time. Each and every record he decides to put out turns to solid black gold. Bolting Bits had an absolute pleasure to premiere tracks from two of the previous Lovedancing releases: LD03 which featured Tel Aviv’s underground beacons Rabo & Snob and LD06 which came from a French producer Closed Paradise and included masterfully crafted remixes from Texan The Silver Rider and Detroit’s Pontchartrain. It looks (and hears) like gold was struck yet again with the latest Lovedancing output. This time Sleazy is introducing Dagfest, a producer duo from Sweden’s capital city of Stockholm.

With previous releases on Ben Davis’ Paperecordings, Montreal’s Editorial records and UK’s ISM records, Dagfest should’ve found the place in the hearts and minds of cosmic funk aficionados. The latest offering from a duo comes as a 4 track vinyl with 2 original compositions and 2 remixes from NYC’s Superior Elevation Records boss Tom Noble and from Lovedancing CEO Sleazy McQueen himself.

Today Boltings Bits are happy to premiere the A1, title track of the release. “Falling in Love” is laden with funky guitars, catchy synths and a soulful vocal about one of the most beautiful feelings on Earth. “Dagfest” stands for day party in Swedish, but we are convinced that rather uptempo beat of this groover will surely provide enough charm and energy to stir and move dancefloors around the globe no matter whether it’s day, or night. The great city of Amsterdam is a place rich in culture and beauty and is especially true when it comes to electronic music. De Dam boasts talent on all fronts – home to huge festivals such as Dekmantel and ADE as well as the prominent record store, Rush Hour. Hidden deep in the cities veins is another treasure in the form of Bordello A Parigi, a record store come label sitting pretty in Oudezijds Kolk releasing and distributing outstanding music since 2011.

Next out the oven for Bordello is a gorgeous 3-track masterpiece from Berlin-based duo, Longhair. Marko and Bene have curated a distinctive sound for Longhair seemingly inspired by the electronic sounds of the 80s and more specifically similar synth driven influences that came from Italy in the 1990’s.

Following theme for their debut EP with Bordello is a synth-rich masterpiece with that Italo touch as mentioned earlier, all the while complimented by powerful kick drums and broad bass that cutting through at lightening velocity. Our undisputed favourite of the release goes to ‘Bunny’, blissful gem starting out with that all familiar bellowing kick before being quickly joined by a dancing synthline full of funk and life. Longhairs exceptional percussion-work perfectly ties the whole thing together to create a soundscape able to uplift and destress anyone at any time. This EP is an example of why we get excited every single time we get wind of a Bordello A Parigi release, be sure not to miss out on Longhair’s fantastic debut EP.

Our next premiere comes from DJ Moonbeam, and is the first drop on SITU, a newly formed Lobster Theremin sub-label. DJ Moonbeam has been known to craft hazy cuts that drift through different shades of the Deep House spectrum. Apus De Soare showcases the producers evolving sound and ability to create tunes that are as apt for the dancefloor as they are for the home. 

Our fave is the title track Apus De Soare. It’s a slow burner with massive filter swoops and stabby chord rhythms. As the track progresses, you feel yourself leaving dancefloor as you ascend out of orbit and into space. Cosmic waves of arpeggiated synths find their way careening the mix, while the thumpy bassline steadies the ship throughout its voyage. Moonbeam has honed an eclectic palette of Deep House sounds and distilled it into something uniquely his own.
