Welcome to the early hours within the institutions we call clubs: People arrive, have a chat, first drinks are ordered while decent music is playing in the back. Sascha Ciminiera out of Darmstadt-City is a prime example of making music just perfect for the occasion. The "Galerie Kurzweil" affiliate manufactures House Music that makes people move their feet even before the proper party starts (see "Lights" on Footjob for reference). In other words: "Milla calls" is the tune you will hear when entering the dance floor for the first time. Superconcious present a further evolution for Melbourne producer András. Looney house recorded with DIY immediacy, this fresh 5 tracker takes subtle cues from Cajmere, Pal Joey and lesser known 90s Australian cuts culled from the 3RRR FM library. 'T.N.T.F.' was the fastest track András had even written until revving the Pajero offroad and clocking 138 bpm on 'Always Pumping'. On the two mixes of 'Gold Coast', he finds heaven in a tourist hell, making hotel room acid before hitting the balcony for some cool breakbeat over a Bacardi and coke. The absurdity continues with the horny-Australiana disco of 'Soy Boy', rounding off a welcome return to his inimitable solo work.

The Alishan Forest Railway is a 86 km network of narrow-gauge railways running through the forests of Alishan Mountain in Chiayi County, Taiwan. During the Spring months, the iconic red train passes through an endless array of cherry blossoms and small, untouched villages. This peaceful scene is set in contrast to the stories told by locals, of wandering spirits seen deep in the forest. The spirits are believed to be the lost souls of the 32 passengers, who perished in the tragic derailment of the train in 1981.

Philip Budny’s caught our attention over and over again these past years, appearing on numerous VA’s, a beautiful debut EP on Lionoil and last year’s collaborative EP with Seb Wildblood on Coastal Haze. We couldn’t be happier to premiere the first track from his next release, kicking off 2019 with an EP on Jacques Renault’s revered Let’s Play House imprint, who’ve recently been home to releases from Viers, St. David, Keito Sano and others. On his Somnambulism EP, Phil P once again cooks up four warm, sun-dappled tunes to make the winter months a little more bearable and add a touch of summer spirit to your day. 

Our premiere today is the title-track, Somnambulism.  Somnambulism layers the vaguest strums of a distant guitar, nebulous pads and silky smooth keys, on a backbone of 909 hihats and a bouncing bass line.  Like a feathery dream built on a steel foundation, Somnambulism carries qualities of hazy home listening and club energy alike. Aptly named - literally meaning sleepwalking - Somnambulism, both the track and EP alike, seem to walk the line between two worlds:  the hazy and the energetic, the ambient and the 909, the dream-world and the real one. Through his vision of these worlds intertwined, Philip Budny shows us how to dream as we dance, the way others sleep as they walk.

Somnambulism is out February 22nd.
