Welcome to the early hours within the institutions we call clubs: People arrive, have a chat, first drinks are ordered while decent music is playing in the back. Sascha Ciminiera out of Darmstadt-City is a prime example of making music just perfect for the occasion. The "Galerie Kurzweil" affiliate manufactures House Music that makes people move their feet even before the proper party starts (see "Lights" on Footjob for reference). In other words: "Milla calls" is the tune you will hear when entering the dance floor for the first time. Some senior experts even claim the best records gets played in the beginning of the night anyways. Grazie mille Sascha! At the same time Johannes Albert adds some more euphoria with his Metro Mix. Now get that party started, pleeease!

PIFF Records welcomes Venice-based producers Nicola Brusegan and Steve Hammer to the label on their latest release, Different Gear EP.

Both producers have a rich history of collaborations, sharing releases on a multitude of labels in recent years. Despite not sharing production duties on any individual track on this release, their musical styles seamlessly blend together to construct a rich sonic tapestry traversing vibrant deep house and soulful dub techno.

The first four tracks on the EP will be available on both vinyl and in digital formats. Steve Hammer offers a simple-yet-raw bassline paired with crisp 808 percussion and dreamlike pads on Black Jack, in contrast with the more upbeat and playful Sadiq. Magic Colour, courtesy of Nicola Brusegan, revolves around a thunderous pumping bassline and stripped-back drums, whilst The River is centred around dubbed-out chords which keep pushing the track forwards.

A plethora of 90s-infused soundscapes continue throughout the final five tracks of the release, available exclusively in digital formats. Highlights include the lively serotonin-drenched melody of We Can Do It, and the glitchy arpeggio of Place 4 (both provided by Steve Hammer), alongside Nicola Brusegan airy pads and hypnotic bassline on XX33 and the Chicago-style vocal sample of Naked.

Rounding off the release with Look Inside Me, Nicola Brusegan applies melodic pads and shuffling drums to create a hazy track available for free download for buyers of the digital EP.

Over the course of 9 tracks, the pair of Venetian producers express the soulful grooves of 90s house through refreshingly modern production standards.

After 28 years, Paper Recordings is still releasing music with the same enthusiasm as those bushy tailed youths of the 90s. Deep house, disco and Balearic is the name of the game, with the label's never compromised stamp of quality running through it like a stick of Blackpool rock.

Volume 6 of the Paper Cuts compilation features releases from the summer of '21 to '22 with New Zealand, Norway, USA, South Africa, Mexico, Malaysia, Eastern Europe and of course the North of England all representing. All bangers with tracks to rock the party, the warm-up and the afters from the Paper family.

Jarred Gallo returns to Large with his second EP after the successful debut entitled Unify from Spring 2019. I love Jarred's work ethic and dedication to authenticity; he has worked on this follow up release for months. The end results speak for themselves: two top shelf Deep House grooves that are perfect in just about every way possible. There is mood, there is texture and there is soul all mixed in with stellar production values. Mr Gallo is one of the bright rising stars of our scene with an unlimited ceiling for success.
