Mister T. Records is a Record label and DJ collective founded by a group of friends in Paris & Toulouse. 18 months after the release of their 3rd EP, the label is back with their first official digital release, a new project by Russian-born (Paris-based) producer/DJ Sim Fossil.

Sim isn’t new to the production game, in fact, he started his journey in electronic music 10 years ago, producing under his house alias Cossway and releasing with labels like HedZup, Whoyostro, Hatch, Deepolody, and Inter records. Sim considers this project a big step up for him, citing labels like Mood Hut, Pacific Rhythm, and PPU as influences for this newly minted sound.

The Body Contact EP is truly a blast from the past. Each tune is filled with vintage synths and iconic drum machine sounds paying homage to the sounds of the Belgian, Canadian, and US underground scenes.

The EP opens with ‘Body Contact’, its most dance-floor friendly track, mixing together the loud and simple rhythms of newbeat jamming with Sim’s distorted house samples. The journey continues with ‘Baseline Traffic’, another powerful tune, diving in the very essence of late 80’s electronic music. Its hypnotic bassline guides us all along, between aerial melodies and filtered synths. Rounding out the release is ‘Programmed Cruise’, a groovy tribute to proto-house and synth-pop, a step back from the new beat influences of the two first tracks. With its ethnic flutes and chugging percussion, Sim evokes a light and carefree atmosphere that’d be perfect for daytime festie sets. A song like this is versatile and could easily make its way into a house, Italo, or even tech-house set. If you’re a fan of DJ City, Jexopolis, or anything from Eden Burns, this EP will be right up your alley.
