Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is back with another star-packed release &ndash; this time from discObeta, who has teamed up with some heavy hitters on the remix front for a funky slice of hip-hop breaks.discObeta has served up 2 epic funk fused originals and call on Fort Knox Five, Ross Go, Mined &amp; Forrest, BadboE &amp; Pecoe to get busy on some remixes.
Starting off with the title tune Down The Block which showcases discObeta&rsquo;s low-slung funky sounds with some well picked classic vocal hooks and smooth electro basslines. Fort Knox Five is coming in hot on the remix of Down The Block with an upbeat dancefloor twist to the original. They get the absolute best out of the vocal hooks while making it their own on by infusing their classic funky Fort Knox Five vibes that they are known and loved for. Ross Go is getting busy while diving into the classic goldmine of samples and serves up a fun and upbeat alternative to the original.
On the flip side we dive into some serious street vibes and big flows on the Yoobie Doo joint. Original cut gives more of the low-slung goodness from discObeta while Mined &amp; Forrest adds some well picked glitch and atmosphere to the equation. Label head honcho and funky breaks veteran BadboE gives Yoobie Doo a glitchy boom bap twist before Pecoe ending things off on a funky breaks tip with his uptempo funky remix.

Who likes smoke machines? Everyone likes smoke machines! New York's Ursula 1000 teams up with MC bcap to deliver an ode to this glorious device. Wait, are we talking about dry ice? Yeah… sure! Ursula 1000 is a longtime Fort Knox Five collaborator, both in the studio and in the DJ booth. After releasing six albums and taking his eclectic dance sound around the globe, we are proud to feature Ursula 1000’s first single on Fort Knox Recordings.

Smoke Machine features vocalist bcap whose lyrics and soul are fused with a futuristic electro groove. Ursula 1000’s original mix is a quirky, synth-laden house stomper that takes you on a sleazy, sinister beat trip where bcap spits out the lyrical while keeping it mystical. Label bosses Fort Knox Five do what they do best and funk this sucker up. The result is a breaky, g-house vibe complete with pitched up and down vocals and trap fills. Westwood is proud to present K+Lab's latest release, the Wiggy Ep! Featuring a double slice of boom bap inspired glitch hop, this is the New Zealand natives first release to come out of his newly relocated studio in Vancouver, Canada and the results could not be sweeter. Taking a departure from his usual funkified tunes and channeling his love for hip hop he delivers the goods with some straight up bassline rollers.

Enlisting LA-based rapper, EVeryman, on "Banga Boomerang", quirky raps simmer alongside tough beats and tight wobbles, the track takes a turn for the best with an ending so heavy any drum n' bass enthusiast is sure to break their neck. "Wiggy" is another collaboration between New Zealand's Alias and Sam Ross who feature on K+Lab's last album "The Worldly's", as Ross’s bass slaps take centre stage contrasting the sluggish analog bass, glitched vocals and tight cuts from Alias.

It’s a double slice of bass meets hiphop in true K+Lab fashion to hold fans over as the Kiwi producer moves back into his studio over the Canadian winter to finish up his forthcoming full length album, due out on Westwood in early 2018!

Bombstrikes continues to expand its musical horizons via their growing series of expertly curated compilation albums with this, the first volume of Disco Funkin'. For a label so at home in all things Funk related, it was always going to be something special when they added Disco to their focus whilst of course keeping the funk very much at the core. And who better to curate the first album than the fast rising stars Shaka Loves You. Having gained the Craig Charles seal or approval on air many times and also supporting legends such as the Jacksons and The Sugarhill Gang, the Glasgow duo have already shown their pedigree for such music. As recent releases from the Shaka boys show, they are carving out their own sound within the scene and always deliver music of the highest quality.

The duo's skills at seeking out killer grooves are very much on show here with the album's track listing reading like a 'who's who' of the scene. Avoiding the obvious route and disco cliches, the pair have assembled an exquisite range of music spanning across many elements of forward thinking disco and funk. Featuring a selection of album exclusives including new material from the boys them selves, there are also some stone cold classics and new discoveries from the likes of Dimitri From Paris, The Reflex, Kraak & Smaak, Lack of Afro and Sebastian. Further highlighting how the compilation has such a high calibre of artists and a diverse take on the sound is shown by the inclusion of not one, but two members of legendary Hip Hop group Jurrassic 5, in the form of Chali 2na and Fullee Love (Aka Soup).
There is more than enough music here for both the most ardent disco fan but also the more casual listener as well. If the track listing wasn't enough already there is also a DJ mix of the album to take the listenor on a journey and keep things grooving. This is a heavyweight compilation and sets the bar extremely high for what is follow!

With a long tradition in the scene which dates all the way back to the Nu Funk era the producer team has dropped tunes on the Ghetto Funk label as well as pretty much all other labels in the funky breaks universe. Founded in 2004, the simple principal was delivering the funk with engaging music that always rocks the dance floors, regardless of genre. Started by two of the label's key artists, Mooqee & Beatvandals, each release had to be a bomb! This ethos continued throughout the initial vinyl based volume series and as the label evolved alongside the changing digital landscape, helping to develop a global funk and mid tempo scene along the way.

It's crazy to think how much the label has grown and now works with artists and partners from around the globe. Alongside individual artist releases Bombstrike is also home to the much loved Funk n' Beats, Disco Funkin' and Bass Funk compilation series, with guest curators helping the listener discover new music or unearth forgotten classics.
