Qdup is back with a new single 'Electric Tonight', complete with his own vocoded vocals and all of the energy in the air that emits from a thunderstorm brewing. His love for Vocoders came from influences of classic tracks from Earth Wind and Fire, Herbie Hancock, Midnight Star and more recent acts like Daft Punk. He's crafted a funky Mid-Tempo Nu-Disco tune with a synth laden Breakbeat drop for the dance floor. It's Electric Tonight!

The sounds of rain hitting the ground and thunder roaring in the distance set the vibe as Qdup's lush chords, a funky disco studded baseline and 4 to the floor beat get us grooving. Sparkling arpeggios, synth bass and a quality breakbeat push the drop into an electric dance floor frenzy. 'There's a spark in between us. Energy is building between you and me,' Qdup's vocoded lyrics call and respond with female vocal chants and hooks that ride the groove all melding into a quality dance tune pulling from classic and new influences alike.

A DJ friendly package of mixes make this a package that will fit in both DJ's crates and Spotify playlists alike. Qdup's latest disco fueled single 'Electric Tonight' gets re-imagined in 3 different styles by top notch artists. Rory Hoy, Turnstyle and Holmes Ives each put their own touch on the single and give us 3 new remixes that will be lighting up dancefloors and shaking butts world wide.

First up and making his Fort Knox Recordings debut is UK's own Rory Hoy. Rory has 5 critically acclaimed albums under his belt on Freddy Fresh's Howlin' Records label and numerous singles, EPs, remixes and collaborations on various labels worldwide. And he literally wrote the book on Big Beat with his 2018 publication 'The Little Big Beat Book' which explores one of our favorite 90's genres. Rory delivers a super vibey mid-tempo breaks remix that's sure to keep the heads nodding and bodies' moving. Groovy chords and a classic sounding breakbeat lead the way and a heavy bassline drop elevates the energy to flex any soundsystem. 

Up next is Turnstyle, a new moniker for the artist formerly known as Bobby C Sound TV, who remixed Fort Knox Five and many more. His remix of Electric Tonight takes us on a journey that feels like neon drenched 80's Synth Wave with modern heavy-hitting dancefloor production sensibility. Ominous arpeggiated synth lines and a pulsating bassline and beat drive the vibe of the track playing off the vibe of Qdup's original mix while pushing the tempo and energy up. This one makes us feel like getting in a Delorian and gunning it to 88mph to go back in time!

Rounding out the remixes is long time collaborator and Fort Knox Recordings mastering engineer, Holmes Ives. Over the years Ives has established himself as one of D.C.'s premiere electronic music producers with over 50 singles and 11 albums spread over various label including Yoshitoshi, Bedrock, Caffeine, Six Degrees, Shinichi and more. Holmes puts his stamp on Electric Tonight with a groover of a remix. complete with a 4-to-the-floor beat, a tight bassline and relentless rhythm lay the foundation as vocal chops weave through the beat to great musical effect. BadboE is back on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings with a groovy funk jam called Hard Times, which comes with 3 remixes from Suckaside, Baxta & Boydex and Gramophone Soul. This is the first original EP from BadboE since 2017 where he dropped his Get You Boogie On EP on Bombstrikes and the Under The Spell EP right here on BBP.

It’s been a little over 2 years since BadboE picked up a long-forgotten funky 45 and started turning it into a ghetto funk banger. The back-to-the-roots concept of this track takes a more laid-back – all oldskool funk approach and leaves the bass action for the remixes.

The original vocals plays a center price on this track and shows how the “Hard Times” from the early 70s is very much still here in 2023!    

The EP kicks off with BadboE’s original mid-tempo cut which has a play with a jazzy saxophone riff and steady rocky ghetto funk beat. 

Suckaside aka DJ B-Side and Sucka Timmy amplifies the oldskool hip hop vibes on their remix which leave room for the vocal to shine in with some raggae riffs to back it up.

New to the scene Baxta has teamed up with Boydex and decided to bring the track into the new decade with a bassy but yet funky remix.

Finally Grammophone Soul who just finished up his full-length album called Soul Revolution, turned the party vibes up high with a funky house remix of Hard Times.

Founded in 2004, the simple principal was delivering the funk with engaging music that always rocks the dance floors, regardless of genre. Started by two of the label's key artists, Mooqee & Beatvandals, each release had to be a bomb! This ethos continued throughout the initial vinyl based volume series and as the label evolved alongside the changing digital landscape, helping to develop a global funk and mid tempo scene along the way.

It's crazy to think how much the label has grown and now works with artists and partners from around the globe. Alongside individual artist releases Bombstrike is also home to the much loved Funk n' Beats, Disco Funkin' and Bass Funk compilation series, with guest curators helping the listener discover new music or unearth forgotten classics.

 

We continue to push things forward with everything we do, whether it is releases, festival stages or club nights....We always do it with our same founding ideals and will continue to do what we do best. Watch this space.
