Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack of Wye Oak have spent most of their lives in Baltimore, Maryland. But after two years of constant touring with Civilian, their highly lauded 2011 album, they landed on opposite sides of the country with an unforeseeable future ahead. Despite this newfound uncertainty, the two bandmates embraced their physical distance, passing ideas back and forth, allowing new work to evolve in their respective solitudes. Shriek is Wye Oak’s fourth full-length and the culmination of their intent to express the emotional and intuitive self by acting out animalistic exclamations through cathartic release. It is their most personal and confident declaration yet.

Newly inspired by playing bass, Jenn took up songwriting in a setting where the guitar did not dictate harmonic boundaries or require a call-and-response relationship with her voice, a hallmark of previous Wye Oak records. With her phrasing freed, now it is often Andy who interacts with Jenn’s vocals, playing syncopated and meditative keyboard parts, and the duo’s collaborative arrangements provide a backdrop in which both the arcs of melodies and the new rhythmic elements flourish.

To engineer, mix, and co-produce, they brought in Nicolas Vernhes of the Rare Book Room in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, whose inventive and forward-thinking approaches to production complemented their new direction. The result is a record of indisputable humanity. Shriek is a complete narrative of disorientation, loss, renewal, and empowerment.

Founded in Brighton (UK) in the spring of 2012, Southern Sunrise are a band who are bringing together the sounds of country, blues and folk pop. Inspired by the likes of Laura Marling, Noah and the Whale, The Civil Wars and Fleet Foxes, they create mellow, warm and story‐telling pop songs.

The brains behind the project are Shonagh Macleod, born and raised in York (UK), on lead vocals, and Arjan Pieters, originally from Meers-­Elsloo (NL), on guitar. Their paths crossed in Brighton (UK), where they both studied and started the band. The name ‘Southern Sunrise’ is symbolic of their love for the South Coast city and the conception of the band.

They released their debut EP Brighton on the 1st of June 2013, as a testimony to the British seaside town. After a successful UK tour following the release of their EP the band relocated to the Netherlands to pursue their musical career. The band was joined by bassist Daan Gooren and Remco Gerritsen on the keys.

With this new formation, a second successful EP tour followed, this time throughout the Netherlands. The band have played established Dutch venues like Tivoli Oudegracht, Mezz Breda, and De Nieuwe Nor, opening for golden record winner Ozark Henry and Douwe Bob, winner of Dutch TV show ‘The Best Singer‐Songwriter Of Holland.’ Besides that they played the main hall of Paradiso Amsterdam, the most prestigious venue of The Netherlands and shared festival line‐ups with the likes of Miles Kane, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis and Mister & Mississippi. They also enjoyed regional and national airplay and played live on radio show‘Met Het Oog Op Morgen’ on Radio 1.  

The band hit the ground running in 2014 with two successful live tours throughout The Netherlands. Their most recent achievement is the release of their second EP. The new EP will be released on the 27th of September on Southern Music Records. 

Grammy-nominated indie-pop band Lucius released their highly anticipated new self-titled album on May 2 via Fantasy Records—their most personal and purposeful work to date. Their fourth studio album, Lucius finds the band returning to their roots with eleven new songs written and recorded without seeking outside influence—their first time doing so since their 2013 debut. Produced by Lucius’ Dan Molad, the record explores topics such as relationships, grief and life’s complexities, with a unique vulnerability only made possible due the familial nature of the band. Known for their engaging live performances, Lucius has been featured on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” PBS’ “Austin City Limits” and “The Kelly Clarkson Show" and has toured across the world. This spring, the group will return to the road with their extensive “Gold Rush Tour." Throughout their acclaimed career, Lucius’ Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe have also become some of the most sought-after collaborators in popular music due to their “otherworldly” vocals (Los Angeles Times). The duo has recorded and performed with artists such as Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile, John Legend, The Killers and Harry Styles, including appearances on the Grammy stage and NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” Lucius is Laessig, Wolfe, Molad and Peter Lalish.
