Ouanounou, from the south of France and based in Montpellier, has been co-founder, label manager, producer and DJ of the Monstart label since 2009. His DJ sets and residencies have resonated in famous clubs in France and Europe, where he is specialized in a wide range of musical genres, from Global Bass music to more specific styles such as Dancehall, Reggaeton, Grime, Kuduro, Baile Funk, Juke/Footwork and Ghetto House.

His debut EP entitled "Début" released on Monstart in 2014 placed him on the club culture scene as a producer known for percussive rhythms, and genre fusion. Subsequently, he developed the Monstart label with 19 releases noticed by the scene.

Resident at Rinse France for 5 years, he has been based at Piñata Radio for a monthly residency since 2021.

In 2019, he created the Audioscore studio, where he took on the role of music supervisor for global TV campaigns such as Sidaction, Honda, Skyn, Oppo, etc. 

Through his 15-year career, Ouanounou offers us in 2023 his new EP "Stepping Out, composed of 10 tracks, including 4 unreleased remixes. Exploring club energy in the 130-160 BPM range, this highly UK-influenced project is an ode to club effervescence.

R-Zone. Who is involved isn't exactly a secret, those who feel so inclined can piece the information together quite easily. It is however irrelevant to the concept of R-Zone, which would like to shift the focus away from namedropping and perception based on hype around individual artists and bring it back where it belongs; in the lap of the music.

The sounds exhibited across each track are fresh offerings that combine brightly coloured synths, swirling pads and non-standard beats into captivating and kaleidoscopic soundscapes that constantly evolve from start to finish. A cosmic, intergalactical energy pervades each release, transporting you to a world far away from here. The rest of the tell can be told by R-Zone themselves:

“Have you ever stood in a traffic jam in the middle of nowhere with complete strangers desperately looking for a party that may or may not exist? Have you ever wandered around a bombed out illegal warehouse rave at X in the morning on an E come-down? Have you ever stood in limbo between the click of a strobe or between the shards of a dense orange haze that emanates from a fog machine? Floating away on never ending waves of music and substance induced - we may as well call it - LOVE? Where for one brief moment it didn't matter who you are and what you do and how you look or how many scene-points you have? If so then you will remember the R-Zone as a shadowy place that never fully exists yet is always waiting. “
