‘When people came to the Muzic Box they specifically came there for one reason: to get their jack on. They came there to sweat and to listen to music.’ A tribute to the beginning of Chicago Deep House with a modern twist put into an EP of 3 tracks - a slice of electro-funk, feel good house and warehouse breaks. A homage to the infamous nightclub ’ The Muzic Box’ (former name ’ Warehouse’) from Chicago where Jackin’ was developed with a smile on your face. 

Click Click has been one of Berlin’s best kept underground DJs. We have been enjoying his DJ-sets so much it was natural we asked for a release. When he dropped ’The Muzic Box’  for the first time, Shir Khan immediately wanted to sign the track and there we go!

The last 2 years saw him releasing records on Green Velvet’s/Cajmere’s Cajual Records, San Franciscos OM Records or his own label Kassette Records (which he co-runs with M_Ferri). With upcoming tracks on Steve Lawlers VIVa MUSiC plus regular DJ Gigs at Berlin’s Watergate and Stattbad Wedding or Sao Paulos D.Edge, the future is looking bright for this very talented producer.

When i was around 6 my favorite show in Germany was Sesamstrasse. It was a German adaptation of the American Sesame Street. I was really crazy about the show, and I used to always watch it at my Grandparents in Germany.

The intro song was very dear to me. The lyrics went Der Die Das, Wie Weshalb Warum. Which ruffly translates to He She It, How, For what reason, Why.

The intro song spawned this Childish Curiosity in me. I had to explore everything around me. I would bang on lids in the kitchen to hear what they sounded like.

It was this song that made we want to make sounds with different objects, and experiment with early rythms. From this moment on i was engulfed in anything that made a sound.

Garry Todd: Time Goes On EP (BPitch)

“Club music that makes you wanna dance” – Garry Todd’s description of his art is as simple as that. And he’s right: it doesn’t mess about, it goes straight for your motor controls, and it’s really making waves on the club scene. We could also add that it’s in the house domain, it doesn’t cater to any clichés, and it has a certain twist that points to a natural-born talent. But who is this Garry Todd? He has a label, called Contemporary Scarecrow. It serves as his platform for both music and fashion. As a teenager he danced to sets from Masters At Work. Six years ago, having caught the house and techno bug and feeling the longing for an endless summer, he began a nomadic existence between Australia, Ibiza and his home in the UK. Making notable strides down under, he became a central figure as a DJ, producer and promoter in the nascent club scene in and around Sydney. In his own productions he delicately and subtly explores the house genre. His recent debut album “Nora Lilian” is just bursting with unique ideas – prepared on the TR-909, a Roland Juno-60 synth and supported with vocals from a few friends. 

“Time Goes On” marks the first EP release from the album. The title track dances around the enchantingly presented voice of Nat Page and uses stirring claps and a frenzied synth line to bring it to the clubs – the true destination of this magic number. With “Go Green” – a track not included on the album – the globetrotter serves up charming froggy basslines and rasping acid hi-hats that ultimately lead to an ethereal, beatless synth texture. The EP then gets a special ingredient – a whole side of the vinyl is allocated to one of the stand-out cuts from the album, “Anniversary Track”, which Garry Todd extends to 13 minutes of epic, psychedelic deepness, without leaving any of the suspense behind. “I am doing something I love, and that I am grateful for,” he says of his work. This gratitude and love can be felt in every beat, every chord, every melody. And he can be sure that it’s reciprocated – deeply and sincerely!

It all began with a chance meeting at last year's Fusion festival in Berlin, where label bosses Silicone Soul witnessed first hand the full effect of Extrawelt's jaw-dropping live performance. A few beers n smokes and a chat later, and a plan was hatched for the duo to release a record for Darkroom Dubs.
 
As Craig puts it, "We've really enjoyed their music since we heard "Soopertrack" on Border Community, a track we played loads, so it's a real pleasure to release their music on Darkroom Dubs." 

So, three delectable cuts of deep, melodic joy, and with a remix package featuring Robag Wruhme & Claro Intelecto due to land in the summer, this sounds like the beginnings of an incredible project.

"Tonladen" from the release features on the new "Darkroom Dubs Vol. 2" compilation, mixed by Silicone Soul  released in April. With "Label of the month" (i-Dj) and "Compilation of the month" (Mixmag) already secured, 2010 is shaping up to to be a wonderful year from Darkroom Dubs. 

So we're gonna let the music do the talking and let you enjoy three superb cuts of brooding and engaging techno!
