Combine Audio has been active in its Barcelona base for just over and year and featured artists like Gayle San, [ Wex 10 ], and Patrik Skoog amongst others.

Label boss Paula Cazenave has put together the most mouthwatering EP yet, featuring a reworked version and new original track along with two remixes from a particular London based legend.

Showing up with back to back remixes, Ben Sims lights this package up with more heat and blistering peak time madness. Known for his relentless mixing and ‘Run it Red’ show on NTS Radio, he also heads up Theory Recordings as well as releasing on pinnacle imprints like Soma, Tresor, Token, CLR and Drumcode. If that’s not enough of a CV, Ben has been touring and releasing in collaboration with Truncate under the “Assailants” moniker, which should be very much on your radar.

The rework we selected for this DT:Premiere is of the title track “Crazy Trip” as it wastes no time in using gritty synth notes with a complimenting sub bass to add a little funk to the ripping beat. Powerful and raw, this has an old school, no nonsense approach that’s made to jack the dance floor!

Sawlin's debut EP on Delsin off shoot Ann Aimee went down so well it only made sense to have him craft another. 'Eviment' is that EP, made up of three more deep and subterranean techno cuts that play with plenty of textures.

Title track 'Eviment' is a tortured and paranoid offering that has a nagging vocal stretched out over splashy claps and a foreboding bottom end thud. It's vast and dark, spare and haunting where 'Kretze' is a bigger and bolder track. The analogue percussion and serrated lines all sound old and aged as they mark out a scraping, dystopian vision of a world well away from here.

'Sour Tear' has a more syncopated, techno-funk groove but is still padded out with plenty of dubby undercurrents. Sawlin's percussion sounds are wholly non standard, from clanking metal to twanging strings, everything sounds like a real world sound, which makes his music as arresting as anyone's, despite being made firmly for the techno backroom.

Tripeo collaborates with fellow Dutch artist Cadans on his self-titled imprint with three original cuts entitled ‘Non Perfect Drone Replication’. 

Over the years, Darko Esser aka Tripeo has become a truly respected figure within the techno world. Widely known for helming his acclaimed Wolfskuil Records, BALANS and self-titled label where he’s released an array of his own impressive productions, Darko continues to edge out a corner of the techno sphere through a regular gig and release schedule that’s been of consistent quality for over 20 years. ‘Non Perfect Drone Replication’ marks Tripeo’s first release of the new decade seeing him link up with Dutch producer Cadans who has releases on Clone, Neighbourhood and Hardgroove (when not producing drum and bass as Icicle). ‘Drone’ begins with tense atmospheres and haunting leads underneath the humming percussion and oscillating synths that surge as the track progresses before ‘Non PC’ employs energetic rhythms underneath wavering modulations and spectral tones that keeps this peak-time cut enticing through till the end. To finish, ‘Perfect Replication’ offers up an electro cut that’s peppered with a nostalgic yet modern feel through breaky grooves, alleviating pads and stabbing tones.

Non Perfect Drone Replication

LA artist Modus launches his brand new label Operandi with a fantastic showcase of the talent emerging in the city's warehouse scene.  LA’s exciting underground scene is really booming right now with stellar parties being thrown by promoters all over the city inviting top-notch talent from across the globe. Operandi is at the forefront of this strong resurgence in the underground scene with founder Modus seeking to capture this unique energy that fosters new, emerging local talent within the darker, harder, and faster realms of the techno genre through his regular parties and releases on the newly launched label. First up is Brazil-born, Germany based Chromium Music boss Allan Feytor with 'Nocturnal', a dark, hard-hitting banger that blows away the cobwebs and has plenty of manic synth patterns to tie your mind in knots. Stephen Disario then steps up with 'Loss of Self', which sinks you into a smooth, train-track like groove with icy hi-hats peeling off the hammering kicks as cosmic pads swirl round up top. Vince Weyn contributes 'In Die Nacht' which is a peak time tune with cosmic energy and plenty of frazzled synths, freaky voices and terror-filled stabs that are brilliantly dystopian. 

Next up is the boss himself. Modus has climbed high in the Beatport charts before now with tunes on labels like Understated Records as well as being a key techno catalyst in his local scene. His offering is a searing techno track with cantering kicks that sweep you off your feet as industrial fx and bright chords bring real drama. Error keeps the pressure on with his hugely heavyweight and shadowy 'Beyond Consciousness' which burrows ever deeper underground with spooky, paranoid synth drones. Amnesiac Host's 'ifconfig' is another one to trap you in a state of bleak techno hypnosis thanks to the sustained pads and unresolved drum loops that layer up the tension. Last of all, Nate Lowpass & Elijah drill down into bass heavy techno with 'In The Bag', which prowls urban wastelands with real menace.

BPitch welcomes Italian acid duo Boston 168 back to the fold as the label’s 2020 campaign continues. The pair produced the ‘909 Therapy’ EP and the back in 2019 after their successful ‚Drops In Heaven’ debut
on BPitch, so it’s a pleasure to have them return with ‘Vax Of Love’, a three-track continuation of their ex- periments with industrial sounds and the timeless appeal of the beloved Roland TR-303 and its squelchy secretions. What we have here is the product of one of Italy’s ‘Motor Cities’, the ghosts of abandoned factories present in every beat, bassline and acid-tinged motif...
First up is ‘Kiss My Accent’, a dense playful cut with a potent analogue hoover effect keeping the energy levels high. Pounding beats propel the track forward, while the analogue riff warps and twists, modulating into various guises throughout. It’s dramatic and tense, moving the listener physically and mentally.
This is followed by ‘Mononucleacid’, which has a morose feeling from the start. The drums stomp down sen- ding shockwaves through the ground as the rhythm grabs you and refuses to let go. We’re taken back with a nineties influence, though the production levels are crisp and contemporary. As the cut progresses Boston 168 cultivate a stirring atmosphere designed to ignite the dance floor and cause uproar.
Finally, ‘Vax Of Love’ takes us into breakbeat territory as the duo put their own spin on a familiar drum pattern. It’s strange and unique, with rousing organ-esque effects working in tandem with cosmic squelch effects and a wistful spoken word sample. The beats switch up, taking on a 4x4 rhythm at one point, Boston 168 showcasing their creative flair with this one. The intensity increases after a short breakdown, leading us to the interstellar ending...
