The new soft-spoken, hard-rocking group from Baltimore debuted their full length live show at the Wolf + Lamb Marcy Hotel this March. Following in the footsteps of greats like Nicolas Jaar and PillowTalk, they were the first invited guest in over 2 years to perform at the legendary Brooklyn proving grounds.

Life on Planets is a duo that met in the studio lofts of their east coast hometown, whereby a collaboration fusing indie artrock and electronic music began to take shape. It was a pairing of two dramatically different personas, merging as one for a serendipitous, romantic sound that's now been signed to the Double Standard label. Life on Planets has also released music through Better on Foot, where the debut single 'Apollo' made waves in early 2014. The touring act features live vocals and guitar, backed by a dj/producer, dawning a long-awaited return to authentic songwriting in dance music.

Garry Todd: Time Goes On EP (BPitch)

“Club music that makes you wanna dance” – Garry Todd’s description of his art is as simple as that. And he’s right: it doesn’t mess about, it goes straight for your motor controls, and it’s really making waves on the club scene. We could also add that it’s in the house domain, it doesn’t cater to any clichés, and it has a certain twist that points to a natural-born talent. But who is this Garry Todd? He has a label, called Contemporary Scarecrow. It serves as his platform for both music and fashion. As a teenager he danced to sets from Masters At Work. Six years ago, having caught the house and techno bug and feeling the longing for an endless summer, he began a nomadic existence between Australia, Ibiza and his home in the UK. Making notable strides down under, he became a central figure as a DJ, producer and promoter in the nascent club scene in and around Sydney. In his own productions he delicately and subtly explores the house genre. His recent debut album “Nora Lilian” is just bursting with unique ideas – prepared on the TR-909, a Roland Juno-60 synth and supported with vocals from a few friends. 

“Time Goes On” marks the first EP release from the album. The title track dances around the enchantingly presented voice of Nat Page and uses stirring claps and a frenzied synth line to bring it to the clubs – the true destination of this magic number. With “Go Green” – a track not included on the album – the globetrotter serves up charming froggy basslines and rasping acid hi-hats that ultimately lead to an ethereal, beatless synth texture. The EP then gets a special ingredient – a whole side of the vinyl is allocated to one of the stand-out cuts from the album, “Anniversary Track”, which Garry Todd extends to 13 minutes of epic, psychedelic deepness, without leaving any of the suspense behind. “I am doing something I love, and that I am grateful for,” he says of his work. This gratitude and love can be felt in every beat, every chord, every melody. And he can be sure that it’s reciprocated – deeply and sincerely!

The remix is taken from the first volume of Jeudi Records' newly launched series The Remixes (out Jan. 11). A sturdy house beat gives the track its backbone as Camea ramps up the atmosphere with a chilly melody and some echoed vocals. It's dark and moody, but by no means lacks drive. At six and a half minutes, it's quite a voyage and the perfect track for those who want nothing more than to get lost in the beat.

We’re not only kicking off the new year 2016 in some bootylicious fashion, but with a special release by the axis Tokyo-Chicago-Berlin. Both the Japanese techno legend DJ Shufflemaster as well as his compatriot and partner-in-crime Chester Beatty will debut on BPitch. Since their first joint EP from 1997 on Robert Armani’s label Cloned Vinyl, the duo held a special connection to Chicago, the origins of house music.

By saying Chicago, we also have to mention the legendary imprint Dance Mania. One of its members, Charles „DJ Funk“ Chambers, is still considered as the synonym for the rough and raw ghetto house sound penetrated by TR-808 and TR-909. The oldschool track „Our House Music“ by DJ Shufflemaster & Chester Beatty bows to the still timeless chi-town style with its distinctive, analog-driven synth bass line, rattling hi-hats as well as warm and epic chords. It’s an impressively simple arrangement that spreads a nostalgic drive with its glockenspiel intermezzo and the iconic vocals by DJ Funk. The remix by DJ Tasaka is not only highlighting the delay on vocals and some atmospheric soundscapes, especially the 808 drums and the 303 bass lines are reminiscent of the futuristic classic Chicago acid. A Book Of Flying’ marks Kyson’s return to Friends of Friends and the follow-up to 2013’s ‘The Water’s Way’. 11 roomy, beatific songs are rounded around Kyson’s delicate vocal work, the album updating classic folk tropes with modern verve. Composed entirely by Kyson, the album is a sort of grown up bedroom album, full of contemplative instrumentation and songwriting that tugs at intrinsically human heartstrings. Whereas Kyson’s music has touched on the dancefloor in the past, ‘A Book Of Flying’ gives in entirely to his inward-looking proclivities and the result is his most complete work to date, a work of contemporary folk that paints a fluid picture of Kyson the artist.

Taron-Trekka – Black Magic EP

Black magic, what is that supposed to be? A spell that seeks to do harm to others? Usually yes, however Taron-Trekka are animated by the best intentions, rather aim for the magic of the night and as always want to merely destroy the dancefloors of this world in a symbolic way. In fact, nobody has comes to grief with the four tracks of their “Black Magic EP” (the last part of their “Magic” triology) – nevertheless, they possess a certain magic. 
However, Taron-Trekka don’t make jumbo jets disappear, they don’t walk through the Chinese wall or initiate other cocky tricks à la Copperfield. They are more like thimbleriggers. Or card jugglers. You know, those guys who surprise you when you least reckon with it. Those who have already outsmarted your mind when you were still thinking that it was just about to really begin.
Taron-Trekka have the groove and cast a net of loops, which magically creates a tremendous energy. Loops with which the smallest shift can open up worlds. Worlds, which admittedly appear accessible, but are hardly decipherable. This way, tools become magical tracks. Furthermore, house becomes a music, which brands itself to the last corners of a soul. Just like the trick that you haven’t understood until today.

A1 Black Magic
Taron-Trekka‘s ride through the night starts funky and dry with the title track of the EP. The effects bleep here and fade away there, however over distance a magical pull develops. A pull that can only be escaped from with great difficulty.  

A2 Monofile 
Regarding “Monofile”, Taron-Trekka conjures a groove as selfwilled as enchanting by initially making vocals and keys appear on a dead straight beat and then letting this very same one stumble over itself. At the right moment it engenders at least as much “Ohs” as “Ahs” in a club, you bet.  

B1 Red
From black to red, from night until morning. For exactly this moment “Red” was made, which brings every last person to the next afterhour with its swing and depth.
 
B2 Distance
Entirely against its own title, “Distance” may indeed affect one deeply. Namely then, when one wants to delve into funk as subtle as extensive. That is Jan Jelinek at a gallop or SND with more punch. Both are fantastic

Feel One (Digi Only)
Once again, Taron-Trekka show that they may enchante the lower BPM area due to their exclusive Digi bonus “Feel One”. Classic beatdown-dreamer-food with diffident areas and vocal philandering of which we cannot get enough.
