After a debut outing on International Black last year with his best friend Mallard, LT graduates onto Rhythm Section INTL with a stunning debut solo effort: FOREST FLOOR.
Aged just 20 years old, Lewis Taylor aka LT is another prodigal talent from the north of England, whose association with Rhythm Section goes back to his school days. A fan of the label from an early age, Lewis regularly made pilgrimages to the pool hall as soon as he was old enough to do so. It was these visits with his old school friend Mallard ( who had recently moved down to London from Derbyshire to study music) which proved to be a formative influence, prompting him to try his hand at production…It turned out he was quite the natural, with his second ever effort as an 18 yo making it onto this very EP.
Sitting somewhere between electro, house and techno with a healthy dose of breaks - LT constructs complex arrangements with as much of a nod to the retro summer of love stylings of Lone as to the new age bounce of the Pender Street Steppers. The piano house stabs of ‘ North Circular’  and “Untitled (Chesney) reverberate around chopped breaks and screaming samples, anchored down by bouncy organ bass and FM lead synth which really begs the question : ‘ How did LT develop such a rich lexicon of club culture references in such a short time?’ Is the north circular a reference to free Parties on the London Orbital or just a coincidence. We’d be tempted to believe it was just pure look, if this mastery of rave aesthetics wasn’t repeated throughout the EP…
Mesosphere fizzes with arpeggiated energy before giving way to a magnificent yet subtle drop that will serve festival main stages as well as it will back room clubs.
Before the EP is over, LT has one more trick up his sleeve in Forest Floor - the titular track which is the musical equivalent of watching the sun rise through a misty glade after a night spent alone in the wilderness. With this gentle touch, LT proves he’s more than another kid on abelton making bangers - he has breadth, incredible musicality and a rare ability to transcript sceneries into sounds.

We couldn’t be happier to welcome LT onto the RS INTL roster in what feels like a fulfilment of destiny. It’s such a great honour to have nurtured and now introduce the next generation via the Rhythm Section platform.

The techy-banger is aimed at the terraces, with thick, brooding bass and zippy riffs that lead to shoulder-swinging drops.

Yadava - Morning Pt.2 (Extended Edit) (STW Premiere)

When thinking Balearic, there is a name that should strike you right away. No, not Ibiza itself, but the man responsible for producing and curating some of the lushest sunset music the White Island has ever heard – Steve Miller, perhaps most commonly known as Afterlife. Making a name for himself in the early 2000’s by playing monumental events such as Glastonbury, headlining Cafe Del Mar’s 20th anniversary party and reaching the top of the UK charts by remixing Another Chance from Roger Sanchez, he’s managed a consistency unlike many others in the decade and a half since.
Releasing standout classic albums such as “Simplicity Two Thousand” and “Speck of Gold”, his music has been released on the premiere labels of the time, such as Hed Kandi and Defected, while also being featured on numerous compilations to date. Not only is he a master of his craft, but he’s also managed to attract some of the best in the business to work with him, namely K-Klass, Jose Padilla, Chris Coco and an almost inconceivable amount of others. Lately, Steve has shifted his output to his own record label, Subatomic UK, averaging an album release every two years over the past six years.
This time  Afterlife looks to build a bridge to the dance floor, with a pair of remixes released on a 12” with one of the lead singles ahead of the album. ‘Give It Up’ gets the treatment from two of the underground’s current finest. WOLF Music’s Medlar changes up the percussion and gives it a more tropical flare, all the while using the main arpeggiated elements of the original, adding his own airy synth work and groovy bassline that’s just bound to set dancefloors on fire. The second rework comes from Futureboogie’s mainstay Christophe. Choosing to work with atmospheric strings and vocals, this version utilizes plenty of the producer’s own groovy ingredients. Managing to inject some funk into his take, the bassline and disco toms give it a fresh, playful vibe that pleasantly contrasts the original. The remix 12” is set to hit shops first as a teaser to the full product in mid -June, with the album following closely behind.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of their inception, our friends at Apparel Music are putting together a special release for their fans that's set to come out on the 25th of this month. It features an EP from Dublin beatsmith LPM, which includes two new originals Mirage and Jazz Thing with remixes by Mangabey and their label head Giuseppe D'Alessandro (better known as Kisk). Staying true to the sounds they have developed over the years, this record embodies Apparel Music's signature assortment of jazz, funk, and house that their catalog is known for.

Jazz heads will appreciate Giusepp's take on LPM's tune Jazz Things. Although there is plenty to like within the original, the Italian manages to take the song into an even jazzier direction - stripping out the low and high-end percussive notes while lowering its tempo as a way to give its sultry melodies more time and space to play out in the forefront of the track. These subtle alterations leave Jazz Things sounding more subdued and open-ended than before, making the listener feel as if they've just walked in on a late-night, jam session in a smokey basement of some jazz lounge. This is in stark contrast to the rest of the EP, which is more suited to be played out on an energetic dancefloor rather than the comfort from your home studio.

There was however, but one creature whom played no such part in the development of the environment - he cared little for the growth of others and his selfish attitude was all that stopped the wonderous green bush from living in delicate, perfect harmony. He was the Kropssprog and he had the power to entice and ensare all wild beasts with a devilish, hungry motion.

Sonny is set to release a new four track EP titled "Plastic Worlds" on Koldt Bord. The release orientates around sun kissed house and integrates elements of balearic bewilderment.
