Here's my set from Friday evening at Moontribe's 31st Anniversary. A slab of music for summer sun through shimmering leaves with a burbling creek of crisp ice melt snaking through. The start of an incredible weekend with friends and community. Music for a sunny daze.

It got HOT on the Lava 7/20/24! Riders of the Sol got SPICY>SEXY>BASSY>STRAIGHT FUN.  Threw down a 2 hour sunset dance at Space City in Puna, Big Island a sweet new private venue, where the vibes are legit. FULL spectrum of Bass from that tribal trap to that latin dembow. Drum and Bass, Breaks, and so much more. Was a sweet and sweaty night.

Something very different - but still so connected to the heart of my musical endeavours. A glimpse into the other side of my world. Discussing my recent Cloncurry Prize, my work across Australia and my connection to country. I had honestly forgot everything about this mix until Rob from Deep N Bass reminded me that I had done one for them last weekend. We popped it on at our SuperBros weekend and I got to hear it more or less for the first time. 

For the mix cover I grabbed 8 different types of topographic maps of Oxbow Regional Park and used noise to collage between them.

Neural Logic

This week's exclusive mix is from Oakland-based producer/instrumentalist Devin Kroes. The mix features tracks from his new release “Whispers from the Trees” out this week on Street Ritual, as well as some additional choice tunes from his catalog. Middle Eastern flavored rhythms merge and meld with intelligently-crafted bass production, holding our attention from start to finish.

Devin Kroes is an electronic music producer and multi instrumentalist with a desire to awaken and inspire his listeners. Based in Bay Area, California, he seeks to sonically recreate the aesthetics of the world around him with squishy bass and sultry strings. His music seeks to create a sense of familiarity while transporting the listener into the depths of the infinite.  He seeks to provide a unique live experience by utilizing live guitar and a looper, allowing him to improvise and making each set immersive and captivating for the listener.  Watch out for this up and comer as he continues to push the boundaries in the roots of world music, bass, & livetronica.

With his shortly forthcoming release for Aufect Recordings, the Doctor has been focusing his recent efforts on the burgeoning realm of hybrid 160/170 bpm bass music. As such, it's only appropriate that his Booms and Claps Guest Mix would feature the freshest and most forward-thinking of those sounds: deep, dark, high tempo, halftime madness. Brad was born a music lover. By high school he was DJing backyard parties in Long Beach and had already become addicted to the latest 12" vinyl releases. His love and passion for cutting edge electronic music has not abated since that time.

Now a veteran of the West Coast rave community since 1992, Brad continues to perform regularly in the U.S. and Canada. His interest in the environment, yoga, and his philosophical nature are conveyed in his musical choices. He can energize any crowd with his seamless mixing, whether in a warehouse, intimate club, or out in the open desert. Brad defies classification by experimenting with a variety of musical genres, often cutting between techno, minimal, tribal, progressive, acid house, and breaks. He blends many intricate soundscapes to create the flow and funkiness that is essential Brad. His eclectic mixes take the listener on a musical journey where time and space seem to disappear. Using the language of music to unite and celebrate the earth and humanity is Brad's goal. Brad has been a resident DJ with Southern California's legendary Moontribe Collective since 1996.
