This is my first composition with a new stage piano, the Casio PX-S3100; gorgeous piano. "Sorrow for Bucha" is a prayer for the people of Bucha in Ukraine.

SORROW FOR BUCHA

This is a pop-rock tune I wrote during one of my arpeggio improv sessions on the new Casio PX-S7000 portable pro digital piano. However, you don't need to be a pro to play this thing. You can even be a beginner student.

All you need is a love of music, some creativity and imagination, and a digital piano that will make you sound way better than you really are. It's all about having fun and enjoying the musical ride. 

I am using 2 different vintage electric pianos in the PXS7000 sound library combined, with one of them arpeggiating over the other and adding effects  from the PXS7000 such a stereo chorus, panning, and reverb effects. Just play some cool chords and it all comes out without the need for any additional equipment. Just you and the Casio PXS7000.

MZ-X500 Experimental EDM track

This is a Casio demo ".mid" file that was originally supplied on a floppy disk with the MZ-2000.  The new MZ-X500 takes the file into new sonic territory.  Sounds amazing!

Throwback Thursday for this song. Recorded around 2006, this doesn't use any software instruments. While I do have the original recorded tracks I no longer own all of the synthesizers used to create this piece. In particular there is an elusive FS1R in use for the opening pad as well as a Motif ES for an arpeggio. The rest of the instruments include a Kurzweil K2600, Roland MKS-70 and JD-990 all of which I still own. Last but not least this was recorded on an mLAN based rig - firewire audio networking of the future. I think I had the only working rig in the USA, it was cool when it worked.

FlyBy Sound Effect Hex Layer Tone (PX - 5s)

This 'quarantune' is a direct product of this strange time.  It was created, played, recorded and mixed in isolation during her lockdown by Anne Burton, who also sings the vocals.
It is inspired by the thought of perhaps being asked, at some point in the distant future: “What was it like to live through the great pandemic of 2020?” How would I reply?
 
There are three sections: a slow instrumental beginning, a funkier middle bit and the sung part at the end.

Instruments used: Casio Px5x keyboard. Akai MPD 218 finger drumming machine. Cubase virtual instruments.
