Classical Improvisation: Nocturne Fantasy in C minor.  Improvised on December 27th, 2013 by Brad Stark.  A flowing and darkly hued piano improvisation in the key of C minor.

My piano improvisations range in style from classical to early 20th century, to more contemporary harmonic styles.

In developing my improvisations I usually begin by creating a short intro section of music which captures my interest and I wish to develop further. This usually becomes the basis for the improvisation but I use different techniques to develop my improvisations.

Some of my classical piano influences include Chopin, Ravel, Scriabin, Rachmaninov, Bach, and others.

Many differences will be observed here and are derived from the autograph, where many ties, dynamic indications, and even notes are suspect.  I do believe I made an error in that the ties in measures 100 and 102 (in the C major cadence which follows the A-flat major one before the return of the dance 2-note 'dance' motive) should still be present, however I repeated the downbeat notes in the recording and may wind up trying to correct it later. This is my first release in a long while; I hope everyone enjoys it.  Recorded the evening of December 9th, 2014.  The artwork is "Undine", by Arthur Rackham, 1811.

Prelude in F Minor

Improvisations recorded and improvised with a grand piano.  These piano improvisations are usually recorded with a Yamaha Grand piano, and occasionally with other instruments, such as a Steinway or K. Kawai.
