I tried and this piece came up, when I was improvising on my piano. I added some strings and here it is...

Taken from the upcoming album 'Little Things' by Dalot & Sound Awakener...

'Little Things' is the first full length collaboration between Vietnamese sound artist Nhung Nguyen (Sound Awakener) and Greek sound artist Maria Papadomanolaki (Dalot). The album marks the completion of a 1.5 year-long exploration of common threads and interests between the two artists most notably the quotidian, the minute and the unnoticed often found in the fringes of big cities, busy landscapes and trajectories. It starts from ground-level interactions, field recordings of soundwalks in parks, on the streets, hydrophones in rivers and contact microphones on bridges and delicately moves to the ethereal; building up atmospheres of dreamsequences that differ from track to track. 

‘Little things’ was created by a process of exchange and extraction of draft ideas between the two artists. The creative and personal connection was deep which results in a sense of intuition and mystery throughout the album. Each track has undergone iterative transformations until its final stage, with each artist peeling off layers and sculpting textures and moods prompted by words, memories and places. While, ‘Strangers in the city’ places the listeners in an urban junction, still with their eyes closed, ‘all that fall’ contemplates on the beauty of fallen leaves, autumnal afternoons and the smell of rain. In pieces like ‘a good day to be alone’ the two artists create feather-like motions resembling invisible drizzles of emotions, solitude and dreams filling up an empty, quiet room on a sunny morning. Elsewhere in the album, as in ‘sailing’, darkness supersedes lightness in a long dive into unknown waters. 

The album creates a journey for the listener; a journey of changes between the two artists’ lives; the changes in seasons, life-events, ordinary moments  and creative processes that affected the perspectives and emotional states within which this album was produced. Rainer Maria Rilke has written that ‘the only journey is the one within’. In ‘Little Things’ the two artists offer an adventurous exploration of internal landscapes through sound and memory, the light and shadow encountered within. Nguyen and Papadomanolaki embark in a musical dialogue in an effort to create a new common dialect between them, a place where they can feel both familiar and lost.

Shakuhachi: The Zen Flute : (The Distant Call of the Deer) 尺八 Shika no Tone 鹿の遠音

On this unique occasion, the shakuhachi flute of the masters Kohachiro Miyata (1938) and Rodrigo Rodriguez (1978) perform a traditional work arranged in 1974 by Kohachiro Miyata. The Distant Call of the Deer and The Cranes Nesting are the most famous and notable shakuhachi pieces in the Mu-Ryu musical lineage.the piece's special effects call for a particular kind of audible breathing in which the melodic line is never lost. Often the work is heard as a duet for two shakuhachi, and it is not certain which version is the original. It is played here on the standard-sized instrument {this particular composition is rarely).
It is said that the piece was originally learned by Kurosawa Kinko (1710-71), founder of the Kinko school, of a Komuso priest named Ikkeishi.

‘The Loneliness of the Deep Sea Diver’ is the second release in Lost Tribe Sound’s Fearful Void Series. The album arrives courtesy of Arrowounds, the experimental electronic project of Ryan S Chamberlain.

What began for Chamberlain as a simple concept of exploring his sound within the expanse of aquatic lore, quickly evolved into a storyline regarding an unnamed nautical exploration attempt that tragically unravels. Ultimately, this results in the title character being trapped below the surface by an event. Struggling with fear, paranoia and hallucinations brought on by sensory deprivation & oxygen levels, the diver fights to make sense of what is real and what is imagined in the depths.

The themes of ‘The Loneliness…’ became sort of an analogy of Chamberlain’s feelings in his role as a caregiver to someone close to him suffering through cancer treatments, the confusion and loss of power and understanding in the midst of such a trying experience. Struggling for clarity in the quieter moments and using sound to maintain a semblance of balance and buoyancy in life, these recording sessions provided clarity for Chamberlain. The music allowed him to communicate emotions he was unable to fully comprehend or verbalize.

It began with what Chamberlain calls "tape loop therapy.” He started to spend time layering loops and sounds, rhythm and decay. It became a sort of meditation process of strictly being in the moment and not worrying about an end result. Only after a few weeks did patterns begin to take shape and songs begin to emerge. Small glimmers in a sea of obscured sound. A pair of dual works were extracted, each exploring different facets of this unique and trying time. ‘The Loneliness of the Deep Sea Diver’ represents the insular or hermetic portion of these sessions, while ‘The Oncotype Sketchbook’ (out now on Pyramid Blood Recordings) incorporates more of the hospital field recordings and an overall narration of the entire cancer survivor experience.
