Sound Design Vol. I & II

This album explores the world of digital crime through the story of a criminal who pretends to be a drug dealer. They offer the client a chance to experience the thrill of a professional heist by planning and executing a perfect robbery within 380 seconds.

The client gets to feel the rush of cracking vault codes and outsmarting security systems without any real-life consequences. However, once the excitement fades away, they may start questioning their reality and wonder if they can ever replicate that thrill without another virtual adventure.

As the client goes deeper into the virtual mission, they get increasingly tangled in the digital system, uncovering secrets that were never meant to be discovered. It becomes unclear whether they are aiding in the robbery or unintentionally falling into a more sinister trap.

In addition, the dealer provides "our pilot" with a mind-bending virtual reality experience in Runway L03, pushing their abilities beyond their previous limits.

In the period leading up to our setback, BrainStorm Operations (BSO) initiated a rejuvenation of Zodiac: our inaugural album, exploring the essence of all 12 star signs in the astrological spectrum—a fascinating concept indeed.

While we only managed to examine the first few signs in our second attempt, the world of Capricorn 2.0 emerged with a darker atmosphere reminiscent of January and a colder essence evoking December.

Our goal was to delve into the unique traits of Capricorn: tough, resilient, and unwaveringly determined.

We aimed to capture their indomitable spirit—the steadfast resolve that drives them to achieve whatever they set their minds to.

Escaping Reality

Arjun ventured on an indelible expedition into the majestic Himalayan mountains, an endeavor that would push the limits of his resilience and reveal profound moments of self-discovery. He encountered treacherous terrains, erratic weather, and found himself immersed in solitary moments.

Throughout this challenging odyssey, Arjun persisted, drawing inspiration from the grandeur of the towering peaks and the wisdom imparted by the resident monks he encountered along his path.

As Arjun ascended higher into the mountains, the landscapes underwent a breathtaking transformation. Lush valleys gave way to an icy wilderness, where an all-encompassing silence and isolation prevailed. In these solitary moments, he sought solace and forged a profound connection with the natural world surrounding him.

In his quest for guidance and enlightenment, Arjun sought the blessings of wise monks residing in ancient monasteries, absorbing their teachings and finding inner peace amidst the awe-inspiring surroundings.

After enduring weeks of arduous trekking, Arjun finally arrived at the secluded and concealed valley known as Shangri-La. This untainted sanctuary, untouched by the influence of modern society, seemed to exist outside the realm of time. Immersed in its tranquil beauty and encompassed by towering peaks, Arjun experienced a profound sense of serenity and contentment.

Here, he reflected upon the lessons learned throughout his journey, cherishing the transformative experiences and personal growth he had undergone.

However, tragedy struck as Arjun encountered an unexpected and ferocious snowstorm on his return journey to the village. The blizzard unleashed its wrath, shrouding the landscape in a blinding whiteout.

Overwhelmed by the relentless forces of nature, Arjun became separated from his companions and disoriented in the tempest, ultimately losing his way in the unforgiving wilderness. Despite the valiant efforts of search parties, Arjun was never found.

The mountains had claimed him as their own, leaving his family, friends, and the entire village devastated by the unimaginable loss. The news of his premature demise brought forth an overwhelming sense of sorrow and grief to the community.

Arjun's memory perseveres as a poignant reminder of the capricious and formidable nature of the Himalayas. The village forever bears the mark of this tragedy, holding his memory close to their hearts.

Instead of a fancy narrative, let me share the background. It must have been around 2005, give or take a few years. Chris and I were close friends, and we often referred to a place we considered our "yellow home away from home," which was actually My Own Music dot de.

At the time, I think Chris was living in Hamburg. We would talk about his studies and our shared love for music, and we always gave each other positive feedback on our work. 

When I uploaded this track, Chris messaged me enthusiastically, saying, "dude! Let me contribute to that one!" So I sent him the working file, and he returned a masterpiece. 

I had been a huge fan of Field Rotation, even before his time with Ultimae. This song celebrates the interconnectedness of the world and the beauty of collaboration.

With all that said, in the spirit of "Tranceparency," we wish you a smooth journey.

You are part of a creative team crafting a captivating composition. The goal is to create something remarkable, pushing boundaries and embracing new perspectives. 

There is this one guy, Keith, a team member, who brings that unexpected and unusual idea and takes charge of the remaining tasks. 

Initially, his unconventional beat concept causes skepticism but it holds potential to transform the composition. As the composition progresses, the bass aligns miraculously with Keith's concept, solidifying the team's chosen path. 

Despite uncertainty, Keith showcases the influence of drummers in shaping the composition's vibe. His unique perspective adds intrigue and captures everyone's attention. 

One moment occurs when Keith drops the beat entirely, relying on percussion accents and poly-rhythmic whisperings.  This risky move exemplifies his willingness to push boundaries. 

Keith's persistence and creativity pay off as the composition, named "Nag Champa," emerges as distinctive and innovative. 

This journey teaches the power of thinking beyond expectations for extraordinary artistic achievements.

The music industry often faces a recurring disconnect between what is expected and what actually happens. There are times when a song is believed to have all the ingredients for success, with its catchy melody and polished production. However, upon its release to the public, it may not achieve the level of triumph that was initially anticipated. This song was slated for big things. Features, collabs...Thats why there is so much "space "in there. We could've (and would've) done so much more than this. 

 "It's in the pipeline." you'd hear a lot of the time.

"Trance-Atlantic" is an electrifying Trance composition that captures the essence and thrill of aviation. The song begins with building anticipation with soft pads and atmospheric sounds that mimic the feeling of taking off into the sky.  

We will begin with overcast, as we climb through thousands of feet in mere minutes, and the cobalt will shine through after around a minute into our ascent. 

We break free of all ground cloud cover at 1:37, and it is clear skies from there on out. As the beat drops, energetic basslines and pulsating synths take over, creating a sense of propulsion and momentum.

The main melody is uplifting and euphoric, reminiscent of the vast open skies and the freedom of flight. It intertwines with intricate arpeggios and cascading melodies, creating a mesmerizing and immersive sonic experience. The rhythm is driving and energetic, with a steady four-on-the-floor beat that propels the song forward.

Throughout the track, there are moments of intensity and release, symbolizing the dynamic nature of aviation. 

The build-ups are filled with anticipation, gradually building the tension before reaching explosive drops that unleash a surge of energy. The transitions between sections are seamless, with smooth blends and clever use of effects that keep the momentum alive. 

The overall atmosphere of Trance-Atlantic is one of exhilaration and awe. It evokes a sense of adventure and the vastness of the sky, taking listeners on a sonic journey through clouds and beyond.

But...the true bright colors of the beautiful blue sky come alive at 3:17. 
Right afterward, we begin our descent at 4:43 back into the grey clouds and final Approach into BSO International. 

The production is polished and precise, with a rich layering of sounds, crisp percussion, and a balanced mix that allows every element to shine.

It is a tribute to the art of aviation, capturing the spirit of flight and the joy of exploring the skies. With its infectious energy and uplifting melodies, it invites listeners to embark on a sonic voyage, where the boundaries of reality fade and the love for aviation takes flight.

Trance Atlantic - Final Remaster

I just got back from an exhilarating practice session, and guess what? I have a brand new snare drum! It sounds absolutely incredible—like nothing I've ever played before! The crispness and depth of the tones just make my heart race, and I can't wait to dive into playing more with it.

Now, as I was jamming, I felt an overwhelming urge to share something special with you. You see, I have a collection of private reserves—these are the musical gems that typically serve as the building blocks for our BrainStorm Songs. But hold on! Not this one! This track is something different. It’s got a hypnotic groove that truly captivates and dances in its own unique vibe. It has a way of pulling you in and making you feel like you’re floating through sound!

As I experimented with various patterns, the song gradually unfolded, each layer adding depth and texture. It was a beautiful process to watch as it morphed from simple beats into something more intricate and mesmerizing. I literally felt like I was crafting a sonic tapestry, weaving together rhythms that just gelled perfectly.

Now, let's talk a bit about the backstory behind this track. Coincidentally, this drum part is titled "Range," just like its predecessor by Keith. Along with it, there's also "Rise." It’s kind of amusing, actually—Range was saved under "Range Drumming," so I guess that’s the official name we’ll stick with! 😄 It feels good to have those creative threads connecting the pieces, and I can’t wait to see how this evolves.
