We welcome a special guest with sharp ears, refined palette, and no shortage of accolades: Russell E.L Butler is a methodical and diligent student of music, thoughtfully pursuing and evoking concepts through sound as a highly inspired producer, exploratory DJ, and musical archivist (recently having worked on digitizing a large portion of Frankie Knuckle's extensive record collection). Inspired by personal experience and history, Butler sets concepts into motion with intellectually informed but emotionally mediated sounds. Butler is one half of Boyz2Them with Bounce alum and Philadelphia favorite Adab. With releases on labels like Opal Tapes, T4TLUVNRG, Fixed Rhythms, Left Hand Path, and Mister Saturday Night, Butler's production touches on classic house and machine-music-techno, with some slamming queer nonbinary anthems you may very well have heard on our dancefloor.
