Hey everyone! I've Cave Story on my mind lately, and just played through it for like the fifteenth (honestly it's probably more than that... I have a problem) time earlier this week. This one of the better songs on the soundtrack and probably the one I hear the least often in game, because it only plays on the bad ending. I tried some cool stuff with this one, and am continuing on with my Mega Man style percussion. I also, for the first time, used a base to make a cover. Generally I make all the instruments from scratch when I start a cover, but I'm seeing what happens if I just make the once and reuse them or tweak them if necessary. Hopefully this saves me some time and makes my covers sound more consistent! Hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!

Cave Story - Hero's End - 8-Bit Remix [FamiTracker MMC5]

Personally, I think this version is loads better than the lazy approach Nintendo took to it.  If you listen closely, you will realize that their version is actually polyphonic (the notes overlap for about point one seconds), as if the game uses a kind of MIDI like SoundFont.  In fact, that might honestly be the case, what with how changing from the modern to the eight bit version of the same song in the soundtrack menu audibly turns on the eight bit and fades that out instead of fading out the modern one and then playing the classic variant, and even vice versa!
