20+ years of Moontribe has meant many ups and downs, we have seen weddings there, a death, and a couple of memorials for community members who have passed on way before we wanted them too.  This was the most intense of all Moontribes for me as we celebrated the life, and came to grips with the recent death, of our sweet and loveable friend, Nico Rojas.

This 3-hour set was played between 10:20am and 1:20pm on Saturday, October 18, 2013.  Emotions ranged from light - being engaged in a marshmallow fight with friends on the dancefloor, to heavy - open grieving on the dancefloor with the music playing.  The music also reflects this play between light and more somber/thoughtful energies, one of the best I've played and certainly the most emotional.

If you can, please listen to this set in its entirety as I have tried listening to parts and it really doesn't work as well.  Try it on a long drive, cleaning the house, or when working through some issues .  

Finally, send some love to Nico, to his brother Mauricio, and mother, Lisa, and all his family and friends who miss him dearly in this world.  Both the music and the way it is mixed were meant as in memory of his life and in honor of his loving spirit.

We are halfway to 2014's Solstice already -- so here's a something to spark those memories and reinvigorate this year's full moon hunger.

well here it is - the live recorded set from the best day thusfar of my ridiculous little life - closing the @beatport stage on monday night this year at movement festival.

the original recording i was handed was extremely muddy and very poor quality.  i'm not sure if some raver accidentally dropped the recorder in the river or what?!?! lol... at first listen i thought the mix was totally unsalvageable. but there was so much persistent response from you guys asking about the recording that i had to try and make it happen.  (you guys are the best btw)

i spent countless hours EQing, limiting, EQing, and working all sorts of magic, and MORE EQing to get it sounding the way it does now.  i didn't mess with the flow of the set or anything shady like that - it is exactly how it came out that night.  

its not a flawless mix.  so what.  its live.  im only half robot, half human. it had been a VERY long weekend with a minimal amount of disco naps and only a few hours notice that i was going to fill in for mister boys noize..... excuses excuses :)  whatever. i'm happy.

THANK YOU guys SOOOOO much for all the love. i still feel like the luckiest person alive to have had the opportunity to play this set.  Thanks to my agents and manager and @chuck_flask and @paxahau and my @dirtybirdrecords family and all my friends and techno family from all over the place who were there in the crowd (i saw all your faces) and the people of detroit who have been so fucking nice and supportive....and my friends who were there in spirit.  and all the producers who actually wrote all these tracks. yes especially you. for creating frequencies meant to surround your body, be heard AND felt, and most of all rumble you to the core..... and thanks and praise to the techno gods for making this shit happen.  

so hey ok i got a little bit (super duper) emo on ya.  deal with it. 

i hope the set is how you remember it from that night.  and if its not... well fuck you... i cannot be held responsible for any chemically altered mind-states ;)  i'm just here to promote the music... jesus loves acid.  x -jess

Scott Gilmore just dropped his new LP on International Feel Recordings, in support of that most excellent of releases the LA based musician has delivered a brilliant collection of tracks from all over the map, including a bunch of cassette rarities alongside his own works and collaborations, including a couple of tracks from the new LP. There's even a charming home recording composed at a party where guests were taken into a studio throughout the night to record vocals. Over the course of the three-quarter hour we're taken through the cinematic worlds of 1980s Japanese synth-pop, to sauntering Noughties electronica, into blissful Ethio-jazz, Dutch gypsy-Jazz and 70s Canadian ambient. It had been a long time (almost 2 years) since I played at a full moon gathering...  last August I took over on the decks after sunrise and played a 4 hour set to close the party <3

If you wondering why not the full 4 hours - it's because there were some sound issues at beginning where only one channel was working, and then the recorder was unplugged about halfway through - so what you get here is approx 20mins in to halfway :)

Open air way out in the desert, 12-1:30am, full moon (super mOOn Dec.2nd/2017) and a phenomenal Turbosound/F-1 rig. Howdy! You found my Soundcloud page! Rather than speak in the third person, I thought I'd just say hi!  Beyond the dj sets I post here I have multiple releases on various labels under the name Myad ranging from midtempo to psytrance, and am a resident/organizer of Moontribe Collective!
