While carefully handling their respective careers, postponing then their obvious collaboration, Möd3rn trio's members have capitalized its desire and now deliver its mere substance, in the rightest moment, where, simply, all the distant forces converge.
The six daring, expert hands merge now into a unique entity, unanimously moving within the same effort towards techno music. Of the distinct identities merely remains the ethereal, synthetic essence devoted to the group, and the common musical passion that leads it. The formula is elaborated freely: each one's adjunctions -subtle keys, nervous chords, underground blows, rhythmical uproars- pour into a thick maelstrom, opaque, condensing Detroit's grieving sensibilities as well as last decade's bewildering cacophonies. The potion obtained is irresistible, an ecstatic hybrid, prodigiously actual, that renders all the genre's diversity and dynamism.
Chance intertwined their paths and now the three companions celebrate both the friendship that resulted and the good fortune that has driven it, by improvising live together as one faceless, solid body agitated by the urge of dance and music, composing the material that shall be processed later on to form their eponym label's releases.

but this hasn’t, not really. this is what i do, and have been doing every night since i was 17.

i find records i love, i fly to a city. i take a nap. i play the records for people. they dance. i get paid i go home.

sometimes i actually think there might be something wrong with me to STILL be doing this. am i stupid?

HOW…. how could you STILL be playing records for people at 5am. shouldn’t you have developed an APP? A line of Wellness Products? surely you should have “sold your company” by now? WRITE A DECK? raise capital!!!! Get bored.
but then i play a set like this (link above) and remember that this is, in fact, as good as it gets, that the core idea i had as a 16year old was actually the BEST idea: to live a life surrounded and protected by MUSIC. armed with your favourite songs, the ones that keep you young and confidant, the ones you want to share with friends.

so that is DJing for me. simple. not particularly revolutionary… except for the fact that to be excited and happy seems revolutionary these days.

also: i’ve played about 4500 parties. and most are like 6 or 7 on tens….. sometimes an 8.

THIS WAS A 10. And the 10s never get recorded. there are lots of exclusives and THREE of my new tracks. and its been recorded WITH all the crowd noise…. trust me its a good one.

The first new Electro Clash tracks from Break 3000 since 2003! After a string of re-issues of old gems on Italy’s “Mondo Phase”, the Argentinian label “Calypso’s Dream” and his own “Electron Feel” last year, Break 3000 is finally back with some new original cuts!

The A-side “Electronique” has all the ingredients you would want from a hard-hitting Electro Clash track. EBM style drums and a powerful raw bass line topped with soaring rave leads and pads and added original (Vocoder) vocals by Break 3000 himself. This one is road tested already on dance floors and big systems and a guaranteed crowd pleaser! Second up is the driving “Continua”, leaning more towards Break 3000 Techno classics like “Flash” and “Fix” this filtered rave lead will make a wild crowd go even wilder. Dark and twisted Electro Techno at its best.

The B-side opens with another aspect of the Break 3000 sound spectrum. We look back to the early years here and to songs like “The Wait” and “Spacemaschinenreise” that were produced in 1999. In a Detroit meets Rotterdam styled Electro setting this song uses a lot of the old sounds from 26 years ago, mostly coming from his original EMU sampler used at the time and a great 80s vocal sample gives this track it’s title. We are transported back to the golden era of Cold Wave here. Closing out this new EP is the wonderful Marcello Giordani from Parma, Italy who build a strong reputation with his “Italo Deviance” label over the years. He gives the original “Electronique” a great funky “Proto House” bass line in best “Bobby Orlando” manner, what a brilliant crossover track this one is! With the Vermona drum sounds his - Dark Disco meets Early House - jam will certainly be on many DJ’s want list.

For the last 25 years, Luke Slater has been a master in sound design. Throughout his career he’s operated under several different guises, with an extensive back catalogue that’s widely regarded as one of techno’s greatest. 

He started out in the early 90s releasing seminal works on labels like Peacefrog, and in 2006 he started putting out music via his own label Mote Evolver, yet his output hasn’t slowed down since then: the best example of this is probably last year’s killer 'Arc Angel' LP he released as Planetary Assault Systems via Ostgut Ton.

Slater is equally lauded as a DJ. Through our history he’s become something of a Farringdon staple, and his clinical precision has helped make his Room Two sets highly anticipated among the techno contingent of our family.

He reminded us why he’s become so integral to our space at his last appearance with us. Following on from Terry Francis and Black Asteroid’s bewildering live show, Slater stepped up to close out the room with a dramatic and transcendent 3-hour closing.

As we invite him to return to his adopted Room Two home this coming Saturday, we uncovered the recording from last year in anticipation.
