Since defining our musical formative years as the frontman of electro-pop outfit Van She, Nicholas Routledge has gone onto become one of arguably Australia's most prolific and in-demand songwriters with ceaseless club hits.

London's Afriquoi have a brand new EP ‘Time is a Gift Which We Share All the Time’ coming in mid June. It's a landmark release for the band as it's the first time that they have all gone into the studio to record their full live band sound. The four track EP see's them compile tracks which have been honed over many years of live performance.

It's an EP where their effervescent live zest simply shines through. Recorded with Tom Excell (Nubiyan Twist, Onipa)they have given light to their unique live sound which includes Congolese guitar, Gambian kora, African Djembe and mixing them with European music. Expect Jally Kebba Susso’s exquisite kora playing, Fiston Lusambo’s intricate Congolese guitar, uplifting vocals from Andre Espeut, crisp percussion from André Marmot, tasteful chords from Nico Bentley and beats from Oli Cole.

Released with Parisian label Mawimbi it's the perfect home for them with a label renowned for their support of afro-tinged electronic music via both the label, their remixes for the likes of Oumou Sangaré, Femi Kuti & Cerrone and of course their club night.

COLORS MIX SERIES 003: Matt Egbert

While all of us are living the quarantine life, Good Room has asked friends and residents to share mixes for our Solitude Series so you can dance on your own. The 25th mix comes from Matt FX. Matt FX is a DJ, producer, music supervisor, and emerging food personality. As a DJ, Matt approaches each and every set with an irreverence that the New York Times calls 'interesting social commentary on multiple levels'. As a music supervisor, he's the  man behind the soundtrack of the Comedy Central show BROAD CITY. As a producer, he just released his debut single Vaquero on Sorry Records. 100% of sales proceeds from Vaquero go to Crisis Text Line, a nonprofit organization offering free 24/7 mental health support. Here's what he had to say about the mix;

"This mix is a reflection on a trip I took to Mexico in early March right before the Covid-19 Lockdown began. On the very first night that I arrived I played a six hour all-night set at Departamento that is now one of my top 10 all-time DJ memories. Later in the trip I also had a profound experience in Tepotzlan that led me to produce Vaquero after returning to NYC. Good Room is without a doubt my favorite [legal] place to dance and DJ in New York - so grateful to be able to contribute to the solitude series!"
