Hinz & Ruhmhardt come out of the gate full speed on their first EP with Doch. 
A grinding and relentless kick drum, hi-hat and snare combo that no doubt hypnotizes even the most relenting soul. Those merits alone can command a dance floor but, combined with a single organ line that is equal parts villainous, psychedelic, and beautiful while being perfectly constructed with a masters knowledge in the art of tension and suspense, they have conceived a magnum opus of grand proportions.
An aural field fusing the finest elements of both heaven and hell.

Gregor Tresher kicks off 2015 looking to break new soil with his first ever full release for John Digweed's Bedrock Records.   

Last year was as hectic as ever for the Gregor and he came into it on high from the success of his artist album Nightcolours and having closed out 2013 by releasing an astonishing Laurent Garnier remix of the title track, on his own imprint.   Time to relax a little maybe? Not a chance. January saw the remixed version of the album hit the stores and this was backed within a few weeks by 'Taurus', Gregor's enticing collaboration with Petar Dundov. The summer saw him remix the Chymera classic 'Shadowdancer' and he closed 2014 with the superb 'Midas / Disturber' double-header.   

Somewhat of a musical chameleon, Tresher is as at home creating deeper shades of house for the likes of Moon Harbour and Ovum as he is techno rhythms for Music Man, Cocoon and Drumcode.   With label boss Digweed a huge fan, Bedrock is yet another perfect fit for the German and he opens his account with the mighty, melodic and Kraken'esque 'Goliath' and the razor-sharp lightning bolt that is 'Stormblade'.

We here at Second State are thrilled to bring you our new concept entitled HUB. While most labels these days are doing various artists releases to showcase the overall talent on their label, we thought it would be better suited for both our listeners and ourselves to break the mold and bring you a series of true collaborations. Each HUB release will feature a single artist teaming up with others from the Second State family to create an EP of authentic musical compromises. A place where multiple minds find a harmony somewhere outside their own identity and each collaboration conceives a genuinely unique artifact. With this, there is no one we would rather have kick off the series than the man behind the massive EPs; 'Throwl' and 'Doch', Stephan Hinz with HUB One!

Second track of the EP is Next is 'Hak' with Philipp Ruhmhardt. Together they have already made waves with their tune, 'Doch' becoming an anthem almost immediately since it's release last May. This time they are back with a stormer that feels like racing through a metropolis at warp speed. Each chord stab is a quick, bright flash of color as the shakers and hi hats impersonate the rapid pulse of a speedometer. 'Hak' is a white knuckle ride.

Shinedoe’s Intacto label has long been held up as one of the best such labels in the tech-house domain, so it’s only natural that we're big fans of the non-compromising Amsterdam native and her imprint here at Data Transmission. 

Hailing from Amsterdam, music has always been a priority in Shinedoe's life as anyone who has been fortunate enough to witness her rocking the booth can attest. Thus it is with great excitement that we welcome her to to our mix of the day series as she shifts through the gears to deliver a fresh set of cuts for us to wrap our ears around.

Label boss Sasha Carassi is back and takes no prisoners in these two storming cuts. &#8220;Citrus&#8221; kicks things off with looped-out samples and steamrolling drums, while an anthemic riff creeps out from behind the shadows, instantly elevating the affair to the next level. &#8220;L.S.F.&#8221; picks up from there with the evilest of arpeggios and mangled vocals, as everything is shrouded in thick, dark air, evolving into an evil masterpiece.

On &#8216;Someone Like You&#8217;, the first single of their collaborative EP, Nicole Moudaber and Skunk Anansie&#8217;s Skin immediately display the production and performance talents they&#8217;re renowned for. Skin&#8217;s inimitable vocals sit perfectly over Nicole&#8217;s trademark dark and brooding techno beats. Alongside this sits &#8216;You Like This&#8217;; its stabbing synths creating a thunderous peak time dub ready for the dance floor. It&#8217;s time for Sasha Carassi&#8217;s &#8220;Echoes&#8221; from a few months ago to receive remix treatment, and Skober&#8217;s interpretation is up first and focuses on the melodic elements of the Original but cleverly adds moody synths which add to the overall epicness of the affair, especially in the grandiose breakdown. Layton Giordani is up next with his trademarked shadowy sound and impeccable arrangement, offering yet another angle of attack. Last but not least are Loco &amp; Jam dubbing things out with bursts of references to the original in key moments, while maintaining a rocksteady vibe sprinkled with discordant stabs.

Emerging from the club-circuit hierarchy is the Bristol born dubspeeka, who premieres a track off his upcoming 'Unfriended' EP.

Acting as a pivotal associate within the Drumcode legion, dubspeeka has maintained a consistent output of production focused on dark, powerfully-fused techno.  Last year saw him spin at venues such as Gashouder, Tobacco Dock, Bloc, D! Club, The Hydra, and the legendary Berghain among others. Having just come off the back of his debut BPM Festival performance in January, dubspeeka continues to look forward to his 2016 touring schedule - with performances in London, Cologne and Barcelona, amongst others.

"Unfriended" will be available via Drumcode May 16th.

Top-notch DJs and producers are often known for their globe-trotting ways, but Magda takes it to another level. Born in Poland, she came of age in Detroit and was eventually adopted by Richie Hawtin and the rest of the Minus Records crew. Now living in Berlin, she's been in the news as of late after the (somewhat surprising) announcement that she was leaving Minus after more than a decade and instead focusing on Items & Things, a label she runs with Marc Houle and Troy Pierce. Although the split was amicable, it does represent the start of an important new chapter in the techno veteran's career, so we figured that now would be a good time for her to put together an exclusive mix for the XLR8R podcast series. True to form, Magda has delivered a deep, complex mix that often features three our four tracks playing at once while she combines techno—of both the pulsing Detroit and minimal variety—with bits of house, disco, and a few other surprises. Magda's future may be wide open, but there is little doubt that her DJ abilities are still on-point.
