The Breaking New Soil series reaches Vol.7 and is set to prove, once again, just why its presented Gregor Tresher's label with some of its most popular and successful releases to date. 

Previous instalments have introduced a number of new artists alongside many of our label favourites. #7 features a full Break New Soil dream-team in the shape of  Patrick Siech, Maxime Dangles, Per Hammer and Gregor Tresher & Petar Dundov. 

"Its nice to gather a few of the family together once again, and this time we've all turned in tracks that are on a somewhat darker tip." - Gregor Tresher

First up is Patrick Siech with the moody, prowling 'Return'. "I've been playing this for a couple of months now" says Gregor. "Its one of those tracks that really lifts the floor if you drop it at the right time."

Maxime Dangles makes a much anticipated return to the label with 'BBA'. "I'm so happy to have Maxime back on the label. His Lyoc track has been a real highlight of our entire catalogue and i'm a real fan of his amazing music. With BBA he's delivered once again."

Following up their mighty Taurus single from earlier this year, Gregor and Petar Dudov have returned to the studio to create yet another dancefloor gem. Elegant and anthemic, 'Cosmic Serpent' is everything we've come to expect from the pair. "Personally I don't believe in talking too much about my own music. So i'll leave it to you… enjoy." 

The collection is closed by a track that's actually been a regular opener for Gregor's own sets, Per Hammer's 'Cloaker'. "It's all about the menacing intro on this new number from Per and thats why its become a favourite for me."

Stockholm's Albin Myers and Carli met a couple years back and immediately recognized a shared love for 90s dance music. They reminisced together about stalwart acts like The Prodigy, Goldie, and Aphex Twin, and not long after their meeting, the Swedish duo hit the studio to recreate that 90s sound that Albin and Carli have dubbed 'Busy Tempo', eventually collating three originals known as 'The Legend' EP.

'The Legend' transports the listener to another generation of dance music; a time when the underground rave scene was a thriving subculture around the world. The music is comprised of big, breakbeat drums, emotive piano chords, and pitched up vocals -- all cruising along speedily at a mid-140s BPM. But while 'The Legend' is an homage to a decade past, Albin Myers and Carli have incorporated their own unique style to these three productions for a modern touch that cements the EP's relevance in today's dance music scene.

The YellowHeads make their phobiq debut with a whopping four tracks and get right to the point with the cavernous &#8220;Abbey&#8221; where melancholic chords lead the way and diva vocals are interspersed in great style. On &#8220;Give Me A Chance&#8221;, we are introduced to a modulated riff and streamlined synths in the background, while rocksteady drums provide the intense momentum. Then it&#8217;s time for some heads-down action with &#8220;Tyson&#8221;, which lets a stomping kick lead the way to a synth-led breakdown and features vocal snippets directly related to the title. Closing up, the boys hit hard with &#8220;Back To School&#8221;, a more dubbed-out affair with loopy sensibilities and big, old-school (pun intended) chords.

For this special 20 years of Soma celebration, Slam invites good friends and spectacular producers, Pan-Pot to provide reworks of the classic Lifetime track. 
Pan-Pot are one of the most exciting production duets around today, having garnered success with tracks such as ‘Charly ’ and ‘Captain my Captain’ as well remixes of the like of Booka Shade’s ‘Regenerate’. For this exclusive release on Soma, Pan-Pot lend their talents to Slam’s ‘Lifetimes’, providing two fresh and exciting remixes that throb, pulse and build into instant dancefloor classics. 
The EP kicks of with their ‘Bass Times Remix’ where precise, minimalist percussion, vast soundscapes and distorted basslines are laid down underneath a controlled and stripped back original vocal. The track builds nicely to a vox-laden broken beat drop, and a 2 minute long 4/4 techno stomp. Pan- Pot’s ‘Tribute To Life Remix’ follows with yet more murky soundscapes, a thumping kick drum, progressive builds in percussion and the of course that bassline . Twisting the original track to provide a darkly nuanced and intricate tech-house monster, Pan-Pot do more than justice to this remix.

British producer wAFF has been making waves in recent years, reflecting on a diligent 2015 spent playing across the likes of Europe, Africa, Asia and the States, when not making routine appearances at Paradise, Ibiza. As a producer he’s dropped several lauded releases on Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations imprint, not to mention Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour and Sven Väth’s Cocoon, with his next outing landing on renowned Swedish label Drumcode run by techno titan Adam Beyer.

Laying down hard hitting kicks from the off, ‘Holographic’ churns out an undulating synth combined with shuffling hats and a cavernous low-end, before ‘VibrationZ’ employs a low-slung groove fashioned from a sultry bassline, floating chords and sinister vocal. Tying it together, ‘Syncronistic’ is on a more heads down tip with whirring atmospherics, crunchy snares and subtle 303 squelches for a lengthy and mesmerising piece of production.

Break New Soil's impressive "Breaking New Soil" series reaches its fifth instalment and whilst we've been treated to multi-track EP's, the latest from label is a weighty eight track compilation.  "We created the series as a platform to bring together artists from our roster, friends of the label and also material that we've been sent for consideration" says label boss Gregor Tresher. Each and every track is selected because its worked well in my own DJ sets. It seems that with each instalment we just have more to bring you."For Vol. 5 we are treated to new tracks from label favourites Marco Effe, Romano Alfieri and Luca Bear or as Gregor calls them "our Italian family" and BNS debutant, Coyu. "His Suara label is for me, one of the most consistent right now" says Tresher. Macromism return with a follow up to their vol. 4 contribution, which was one of the highlights of the ep and drop another bomb, whilst we also welcome Mr Bizz who impressed greatly with their recent release on Octopus. Alex Dolby & Santos obviously need little introduction and with Gregor working on a remix project for them, the favour is returned with a new cut that presents a new side to their sound. Wrapping things up are Mario Da Ragnio who returns to the label with a nasty little groover and new Italian artist Alex Delia who drops an essential tool for the floor.

It"s been some time since label boss Gregor Tresher featured on Break New Soil. His and Karotte&#8217;s 2011 smash, &#8220;Sol&#8221;, was his last release, a track preceded by his excellent album &#8220;Lights From The Inside&#8221;. Since then, Gregor has concentrated on the A&amp;R&#8217;ing of the label whilst creating and releasing club hits with the likes of Ovum, Music Man and Drumcode. Today he returns home, riding the wave of support for his current Cocoon hit &#8220;About A Good Place&#8221; and enjoying his seemingly endless run of good form to present: &#8220;Warpaint.&#8221;

No camouflage here. &#8220;Warpaint&#8221; sees Gregor continue his run of bold arena rocking Techno releases. &#8220;I realised that its been well over a year since my last full release on the label and having really enjoyed moving back toward a tougher Techno sound with my Cocoon and Drumcode singles, I wanted to carry that sound into my latest for Break New Soil.&#8221; 

The original burns from the opening thump of the kick-drum. The ever-increasing intensity is fuelled by piercing single note synth riffs, shimmering hi-hats, Gong crashes and lazer shots. An epic concoction. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been working on &#8216;Warpaint&#8217; for quite some time, playing and refining it over the last few months&#8221; says Gregor. &#8220;It&#8217;s been one of the peak time records in my sets and does quite some damage everywhere I play it, hence the name.&#8221;

On the remix is an artist that has impressed Gregor with his recent releases, Kernel Key. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been a fan of all his music over the past months and on his &#8216;Warpaint&#8217; remix he adds his signature groove, which gives it a great twist!&#8221;

Kevin aka Phaxe has gone from a no-name to an international player of the Progressive Trance elite within no time. Dropping his artist name Phaxe in 2007 provokes few, if any, reactions. Only 4 years later he has become a synonym for upper-league party music. Highly acclaimed live sets all around the world, applauded releases, and remixes for some of the scene’s biggest names tell an impressing su
ccess story. A story that makes the man from Copenhagen repeatedly being described as a “Progressive Prodigy”.

Looking back, the evolution of Phaxe`s sound is the history of a perfect storm brewing. It starts with excessive party weekends in the late 90s, awakening his interest in electronic music production. First creative steps are taken in front of a Nintendo gaming console. Eventually this new passion leads to a professional audio engineer training in 2006. These 3 stages of Phaxe’s career are still very noticeable today: His music is to-the-floor, playful, and high-quality in terms of sound.

This irresistible mixture is first to be heard in 2007 when a Phaxe track is released on IONO Music. One year later things take off: The title “Swing King” gains euphoric feedback from both party freaks and DJs worldwide. Within no time Phaxe is producing together with artists like Audiomatic, Morten Granau, Vice, Zyce, Flegma and many others. Great compliments are given to him when the still young producer is asked to remix some of his early Progressive Trance idols like Haldolium, Atmos and Symphonix. His long awaited debut album is signed on the prestigious label Iboga.

In addition to his solo activities, Phaxe keeps up a creative dialogue with some other producers - resulting in a great variety of sound and styles. Together with Morten Granau he is known as High & Mighty, delivering deep Progressive House. The name Sinister Silence stands for a mutual project with Dan Hessner and uplifting Progressive Trance. Last but not least there is O.T.B., a collaboration with Martin Daltoft of Vice.

Despite his impressive success story Phaxe always keeps a humorous and friendly attitude which is very noticeable when seeing him on stage. In this very situation his unbroken passion for Progressive Trance rubs off on the audience through vibrant sound waves.
