Dragon Dreaming 2022 - this festival was the first party I ever attended many years ago, the first time I ever played a set completely made up of my own creations and a place that has shaped my life and sound in so many ways. Seeing it flying again after three long years on hiatus and being reunited with so many special people was an absolute treat. The lake was full, the skies were blue, the grass was green and there were smiles all around. This is a recording of the icing on the cake, being given the privilege of playing the closing set on the main stage was a real full circle moment for me, and one I will always cherish, so thank you to the organisers and everyone who was there for the whole weekend and made it so bloody special. The live recording from @simon-murphy and my B2B opening set on the Lost Lagoon stage at Esoteric 2023.

We opened the Lost Lagoon on a sunny Saturday afternoon from 1pm to soundtrack things with some 4/4 party vibes, chock full of bootlegs, remixes and a-grade watery lagoon choons!

We're thrilled to welcome back tune aficionado and beatsmith J-Slyde with another brilliant mix... this time it's a live recording from his set on Chill Island @ Esoteric 2023...

Here's what he had to say about the set...

"I find chill sets the most un-chill set to plan for. I always begin with lofty aspirations, amassing a huge bucket of music that travels through BPM, genre and style, with the idea that it will all somehow come together on game day.

As I began work on piecing together this set, I was reminded that they never just "come together".

But that's a big part of why they end up being so special.

Then being offered a platform as beautiful as Esoteric's Chill Island to play such a set, further helping to make things that much sweeter.

It also played part of a 4-hour breathe. showcase, with Simon on beforehand. Big thanks to him for trusting me with such an honour!

The mix is loosely split into 3 chapters which cover lo-fi house, trip-hop, hip-hop, electronica, progressive breaks, lots of weird beats & breaks, some garage, a cheeky slathering of dnb and an amen break for good measure. All as cohesively as I could mix them together.

"So it seems with the passing of time the world seems to be moving a lot faster. It's definitely what has contributed to me leaning into my love of downtempo beats and blissed out melody. They soothe my weary head as I plow through endless piles of work and help provide the soundtrack to my down time. Translating this passion to the dance floor is something that I love to do and I am honoured to have had the chance at Esoteric's chill island.

This mix covers some ambient, electronica, downtempo, trip hop and even some hip hop. The breathe. family took over the stage for four hours with J-Slyde on immediately after me. I hope you enjoy the set as much as I did compiling it <3"

For those who share this exceptionally magical moment with me, thank you from the bottom of my heart, it was such a beautiful journey together and for the others that couldn't get in due to the massive line or that were day dreaming and having otnes of fun at the other stages , wondering around in this beautiful festival, here is the recording of my set, i putted a lot of effort into creating a safe space, acknowledging and sharing a message of self estime, respect and how it is important to take care of each other our friends and everyone around us especially at a festival this size and how sharing and caring is paramount for the well being of all of us. Party free, the way you like, the way you feel and remember the ones around you, their belief, their intimacy, their privacy and their right to express themself. We are all in this together and we should all feel safe and loved !
