The piano riff underlying this piece came to life in a different way than expected when the drum loop was added. It's often interesting to apply a rhythm to see what effect is has on a chord sequence and/or riff. In this case it determined the rhythmic shape of the main melody and created a particular kind of spacey feel in contrast to the relative urgency of the tempo. The bass picks up on this and establishes a fairly human feel before the synth melody comes in. 

Similarly, the melody line leaves plenty of space and really just picks up the top line of the piano. As often, I have used a harmony with a complimentary synth sound to add life to this on the repeat. There is a sustained and overdriven high synth that creates extra ambiance and takes on more prominence where the harmony is removed.

The 'B' part is particularly pleasing in its pomp and melodrama: reminding me of 80s film music. I've also used a favourite trick of using modulating synths in the mid range to flesh things out and added additional loops to create extra movement in the final repeat.
