The Debutante

"A la recherche du temps perdu" No. 3 - "Le Côte de Guermantes" - performed by pianist Ellen Cunningham Weaver, USA, on a Schimmel Grand Piano (https://soundcloud.com/ellen-w-1).

"Time" is the main theme of "A la recherche du temps perdu", inspired by the amazing book "In search of the lost time" by Marcel Proust. We live in "fast times", we are "stressed", and we all are longing for the "temps perdu", when life was slower, more down tempo. So the pieces in this series, called after the chapter titles of Proust´s book, are very slow, very accentuated, very expressive. Both listeners and pianists should take their time, to play and listen, as a short break from "normal times"...

Ellen recorded all 7 pieces of the series " A la recherche du temps perdu" and 4 pieces of the new "Adveniat" series. Both series are very contemplative, and Ellen´s masterful interpretations accentuate this character so well. We are sure you will enjoy our new "pure piano" Album!

Old gospel songs are often mournful and reflective and the somber D minor tuning (DADFAD) lends a certain gravitas to the arrangement.

Wayfaring Stranger

After living in WV since 2006, you can't escape this tune! I choose to play it as an instrumental using (probably way too many!) reharmonized chords which change on almost every melody note. The intro was subconsciously borrowed from Waltzing Matilda I think.

Take Me Home, Country Roads

This music describes a natural setting such as the Australian Blue Mountains located in New South Wales, Australia. One goes on a journey while listening to the music- it is captivating and therapeutic. 

Blue Mountains Rhapsody (Improvised)

The original track had subsonic rumble, perhaps increased by the conversion to .mp3 format. I am sorry. This one is alright and better for listening. It still probably is affected by conversion to make it be played online, so if you want a lossless file, you can write me.

Recorded with sampled instruments.

Tuning: 432 Hz (I'm not saying it's better or worse than the standard one, but I used it for this.)
