Doxil returns to Bricolage with the follow up to 2020's "Anarchist Pacifism and Friends".

"Vert" sees the continuation and evolution of that signature Doxil audio vortex of rhythmic breaks, obscure samples and nods to the 90's rave scene but with an even clearer emphasis on creating a nostalgic atmosphere.

A sweet fusion of garage, breaks, ambient intermissions and IDM vibes that draws influences from a broad range of peers.

The release starts off in a contemplative mood with the opening downtempo tracks echoing memories of early Burial material amid a slew of slow burning UKG rhythms and moody backdrops to set the tone. The second half of the EP picks up the pace with Doxil flexing his knack for euphoria inducing catchy hooks on "Brio" before "Lil' Nova" crashes in to end the party with crisp beats and melancholy yet uplifting pads.

Bricolage are proud to present a new split EP from the heart of Glasgow's underground as Fragile X and Esef offer up four bruising slabs of bass driven techno and breakbeat. Both producers have dug deep into their respective sonic arsenals and retrieved the heavy artillery for this one.

Gritty, loose rhythms and gurgling basslines buzz around the opening track from Fragile X before alien bleeps appear and carry the track to it's conclusion. Next up, Esef, brings that trademark percussive punch and weighty bass movements that set the scene for a melodic explosion.

For the remixes, Esef tackles "Damage Control" head on and starts off with a dark and ominous tone that incorporates the original bassline into something that little bit more sinister before flicking the switch and dragging us feet first into an uplifting techno anthem. To round things off, Fragile X travels into the static with a hiss, before being joined by compact breakbeats, chopped up hi hats, warped bass samples and furious acid lines.

"Static Control" has been in the pipeline since late summer 2019 and we've been patiently sitting on it waiting to unleash it into the world. We hope you can agree that it's been worth the wait.

After a series of outstanding EPs and compilation contributions on Bricolage we felt that it was about time to invite No Arrival to go big and provide us with a full length album.

The mysterious Glasgow native has not disappointed with "Converse".

It's an open plan world of disjointed and cerebral electronics. A strange and endearing world of stuttering rhythmic patterns, wispy layers, fractal backdrops and impeccable sound design. Akin to being lost in a dream.

The music dissolves and drifts between different dimensions all the while being carried further down the rabbit hole by the splicing of various skewered guitars, samples and buzzing bass terrains. The time and effort that's went into the careful building process of each individual track is more than evident and creates a dazzling collection of finely carved complex and organic landscapes.

As 'No Arrival' himself says "It reflects my state of being during these strange times. All the tracks do have specific and general meanings to me, but hopefully anyone else listening will find their own meanings - emotional resonance."

There you have it, build your own adventure. Let "Converse" be your soundtrack.

No Arrival - In Soul (from the "Converse" album)

Glasgow underground mainstay and Unstrung record label boss Loui Cleghorn returns to Bricolage with a new EP in the form of "For Sparta". This one has been sitting in our 'new releases' folder now since early 2020 and as we hit winter it feels like the perfect time to share it with the world. It has that late night walk with the headphones feel.

All the things that Loui has became known for are on display. The gleaming production, clean percussion, melodic efficiency and that unwavering knack for creating a hypnotic vibe are all on display over the the course of the four tracks. There's a beautiful warmth and atmospheric element to the layering that brings a cinematic and storytelling touch to the whole release. Melodies as words if you will.

"For Sparta" effortlessly shifts gears between gliding electronica vignettes, rolling techno rhythms and evocative house music stylings. Bright in parts, darker in others. Spellbinding throughout.

We're ending the year in a contemplative mood and this release is the perfect companion.
