Bricolage head @fragilex, returns for his first standalone release on the label since 2019's "The Butterfly Effect".

"The Great Brain Robbery" sees a continuation of his exploration of all things cerebrum based. Both in humans and machines.

The narrative that runs throughout is one of "What If?"

What if we could download our consciousness? What if we could upload them into machines? What if those were hacked into? What if they were modified?

The music itself is a series of complex and futuristic soundscapes welded onto sturdy broken beats and accelerated percussive transmissions. Electronic grey matter illuminated with flashing neurons and intricate, mutated circuitry, communicating with viral chain reactions. There's elements of ambient, IDM, techno and drum n bass scattered throughout this propulsive and dynamic journey.

Will the machines take over? Can we stop them?

We welcome Glaswegian producer @hellosulci to the label with the release of her debut, "Before The Echo".

The story of Sulci is an inspiring one. She was born with tinnitus and partially deaf meaning that she struggled to appreciate and experience music throughout her childhood in the early 2000's. Almost shutting music out of her life completely through frustration. As she reached her teens she began learning piano and guitar as a way of escapism and adapted a new concentration on how to immerse herself in sound. She also began recording acapella takes of her own voice on her iPhone and layering them together to make purely vocal soundscapes. Shortly thereafter she picked up Ableton software and started to make backing tracks and accompaniments for her multi range vocals.

This journey leads us to "Before The Echo".

It's an album rich in emotion and depth. Carefully pieced together to tell a story. It pulls together elements of ambient, electronica, garage, chamber pop, choral, sampledelia and funk. Quite the cocktail.

The result is a colourful and vibrant palette of sounds that immediately obtain a signature aesthetic for this fresh new producer. Stripped back and slowed down garage style beats intertwining with layered vocals alongside a mix of brooding soundscapes that are juxtaposed with some more uptempo numbers that come with an experimental pop edge.

There's a specific tone that makes intermittent appearances throughout at the start and close of a few tracks. They act as a reminder and recognition of her own struggles to reach a comfortable space in the world of audio.

We, for one, are glad that she has reached that destination.

Three and a half years after her debut album, "Ancestral Origins" was released, we welcome the return of Canadian sound sculptor and field recording specialist, Minimal Drone GRL, to Bricolage.

Her new album, "Through A Green Lens", follows further along the storytelling path that was introduced on her debut. This latest audio collage digs deeper into her journey and encapsulates the various places that she has inhabited throughout her life. There's references to the suburbs, cities and the countryside.

Travelling is also a big part of Joanne's life and the sights and sounds of the places she has visited have inspired a stirring whirlwind of affection and memories that are laid out here, among the soundscapes on offer.

When you combine the elements of home life and travelling the result is "Through A Green Lens". Joanne's life through her eyes.

This stunning sophomore album effortlessly weaves together facets of ambient, dream pop, vaporwave and electronica.
