The Normalisation Of Absurdity

Made by accident. Started with a Subharmonicon triggered by CV/Gate from a Korg SQ-1, + LFO and S&H signals from a Neutron into the VCO/VCA of said Sh:)Then the chords (D minor/G Major) from a JV2080. The occasional bursts of synth voices (from a Mophatt) were triggered by a 3rd sequencer using a 31 step pattern where many notes were muted, hence the occasional burst with FX (of course). Lastly climate scientist Will Steffen’s voice played randomly by 3 LFO’s from an Octatrack:) Took hours to master this one. 

UPDATE: Had fun making this track  but felt quite sad listening to the result as the theme is a real tragedy. 1. Had no idea that Will Steffen had passed away earlier this year so felt quite sad (only found out after completing this piece). 2 The tragedy i was referring to (Lament)is regarding climate change/reduction of C02 gases/climate action as not much has happened on a global level.

Lovely prompt this one, thanks Marc @disquiet! This is my response for disquiet0619.

I went for a bit of a beat workout, selecting sounds and building up an odd time groove on the Machinedrum, before further tweaking in the DAW ensued, pushing things around, adding chords and bass tracks and whatnot, until this speedy odd time tune felt like it built up nicely, had a good flow and was going somewhere. Heaps of fun!!

Brillman has been an electronic online musician during the last 20 years using many different names: Brillman, Controlfreak, freakcontrol, Red Karma, Atmosphere, Zero Loop, Pan64, Randomcontrol, geometric delay and Superfreak! Brillman mainly creates original sounds from hardware synths but also uses samplers, vocals or even poetry. He primarily utilizes a 4 to the floor approach. The aesthetics behind the music is about finding a balance between minimalism vs. depth & improvisation vs. programmed.
