The night was young but it already seemed ever so frantic and free in the club. It was as if they had already been there for hours as they danced and moved between the flickering lights as smoke began to fill the air. From the corner of his eye he watched as fellow dancers and revellers continued to file down the stairs and into the murky abyss below.

Perhaps this was his favourite time of the night? The quiet calm before the storm – the music loud but not yet punishing, the pace moody and slow in time with his swaying hips.

He watched as the world beneath became busier and one by one the people came and went. This was a special place, that much was true. Perhaps 10-11 was the best time of all?

Redstone Press continue in the pursuit of leftfield Bass music and harder sounds – the next EP on the label coming from Tano and featuring remixes by the likes of Toumba and Delay Grounds. This one features off piste rhythms and percussion – keeping the energy flowing in the best and weirdest of ways.

Aletha

Lydia hails from Manchester but has strong roots in Leeds & Liverpool, she began her DJ career as a regular contributor to radio for the likes of NTS, Jazz FM, and Melodic Distraction. Her eclectic and intriguing track selections and mixes have led to regular residencies for some of the best stations in the UK including Rinse FM and Worldwide FM.
					
As the radio audiences grew, so did her contact list as tastemakers and promoters began booking Aletha for clubs across the UK including support slots for the likes of Bradley Zero, Mr. Scruff, and Zakia. Her genre-blending sets plus a versatile and impressive mixing style was quickly picked up by some of the biggest brands including a residency for The Warehouse Project in her hometown of Manchester.
					
If 2022 was about building presence, 2023 has been about breaking through; with Fabric, Printworks, and Beams added to an impressive gig list including invites on the Sulta Selects show, Honey Dijon’s Southbank showcase, and The Warehouse Projects international debut in Rotterdam. As well as a busy schedule across Europe and beyond, 2023 has included the sell-out launch of her own night CITRIC.
					
This summer a packed-out set at Glastonbury was followed by a special B2B with Amaliah on the main garden stage at Love International, Croatia with other summer festival appearances including Dimensions, Parklife, and Lost Village to name just a few. With plans for another CITRIC show, a debut track release, and a busy calendar of shows, 2023 looks set to be the year that ALETHA is widely accepted as one of the finest DJs in the club scene.

This time, we welcome a fresh seaside breeze in our yard, bringing back memories of a summer filled with juicy moments. Breeze full of broken and bassy selecta straight from one of 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺’𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘴, real strong player & full of unique energy gal with her gun fingers pointed into the sky. 
Say hello to 𝙗𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙠. Gdańsk based DJ, a solid selector, and a member of the newly formed femme collective, 𝙋𝙊𝙄𝙎𝙀, which has established itself as a safe space for women, queer, and underrepresented individuals in the Tricity club scene.

Her fresh mix is a combination of warm, soft bass and broken sounds with a hint of electro. Especially delightful on these final sunny days. We melt at the thought of the passing summer and we don't hide the fact that we felt a bit sentimental. Float through these meanders of broken sounds topped with feisty vocals. It feels good.

#17 APPOINTMENT W/ BLANK

One year on from his first appearance on the PM+ series, Glasgow’s LWS returns with another two surefooted club cuts shot through with the emergent producer’s trademark flair and laser focus. Matching crisp functionality with dance-melting peaks, he’s zeroed in modernist machine music to incite a feverish response in the firmly established format of the PM+ releases. 

‘Oop’ ratchets down its rhythm section in an instant, leaning on a hefty sub payload and sprinkling some lopsided spectral synth work up top. It’s the buzzing sawtooth bass which will really cast brains and bodies asunder though, gouging a path through the springy groove like a hyped raver making a beeline for front left dosed up on Irn-Bru. 

‘Routine Supreme’ has its own share of fireworks to set off, maintaining the instinctive bounce of ‘Oop’ before derailing the circus train with staccato tech triplets to get gun fingers twitching manically. There’s space for pitch-sliding breakdowns and subtly euphoric peaks, but the rhythm section remains front and centre for maximum club capability. 

Road tested by the trustiest of turntable botherers, both these cuts come with a rave-wrecking guarantee, but that’s no surprise as LWS confirms his prime position in the liminal zone where house, techno and bass coalesce.
