Robert Connely Farr grew up in the small southern town of Bolton, Mississippi, home of Charley Patton, Sam Chatmon, Bo Carter & Walter Vinson. He has been mentored in the Bentonia Style of the Delta Blues by Jimmy “Duck” Holmes since 2017. His 2019 release Dirty South Blues was met with widespread critical acclaim, including being named by KEXP’s Greg Vandy Top Albums of 2019 & earning Farr nominations at Canada's prestigious Maple Blues Awards for Songwriter of the Year & New Artist of the Year. He currently resides in Vancouver, BC but when he's home in Mississippi, he can be found at Jimmy "Duck" Holmes' historic juke joint - the Blue Front Cafe.

abel collective is a Vancouver-based pop group centred around German ex-pat, singer, song-writer, Thorsten Abel. Featuring two lead singers - male and female - it’s shimmering sound is informed by a ‘60s palette - from chanteuse, to be-in, to happening - filtered and expanded through the lift of Madchester Rave, the storm of Shoegaze and a hunger for elevation.

January 2024
Starting in January abel collective will be releasing a series of monthly singles on all digital platforms. The first release will be a cover version of Danzig's "Am I Demon?" alongside with a video by Tayt Modern.


Fall 2023
The band recorded 5 new songs produced by Adam Payne (The Bad Beats).

Summer 2022
Release of the musical score for the documentary Sacred India. Movie Broadcast premiere in September on the Green Channel.

Spring 2022
Vancouver visual artist Tayt Modern joins the collective and enhances their life shows with unique video projections.

abel collective have used the major part of this year to write new material.

May 2020 
abel collective finalize the recording of 36 instrumental miniatures composed by Thor Abel as the musical score for the Documentary Sacred India - A Plastic Revolution by Jennifer Pickford.

February 28th 2020
abel collective release their first EP Greetings from Stanley Park publishing the material recorded and produced by Vancouver producer Felix Fung.

July 2019
Live debut of the new material at the Khatsahlano Street Party, Vancouver’s largest art and music festival, boasting an estimated 80,000 visitors annually. Film Director Jennifer Pickford discovers the band on the festival and asks them to write a Soundtrack for a documentary.

May 2019
The collective records 4 songs with producer Felix Fung.

December 2017
The band home-records its debut By The Electric Fireplace.

The campus-community radio station of Nanaimo BC. Run mostly by a small staff and volunteers from Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo and the mid-island community. Broadcasting over the Salish Sea from the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw.
