At the beginning of 2024 I started building a small modular rig in a NiftyCase with the express aim of not making a an analogue Reese machine! Unfortunately that's exactly what I've made and these are some of the rough test patches I've been making with it.

Black Barrel - WTF Is Your Problem - DISBBSV009 (OUT NOW)

Drum and bass music in Andalusia has never stopped orbiting, and in recent years, a multitude of incredible and talented producers have emerged on the scene to prove it.
We humbly try to accommodate many of them, and one of our favorite artists, whom we admire and love, is G.P.M. Originally from Malaga, he returns to South Yard presenting his second E.P, South Side, which refers to all this fervor that is brewing in southern Spain when we talk about Drum and Bass.

G.P.M presents his second E.P, South Side, a work that reflects the evolution, maturity, and authenticity of the artist, both externally with this sound design, drums, and bass, and internally with deeper maturity. G.P.M has created four amazing tracks that represent him completely; two darker and two more cheerful and carefree, as he is: Genuine and Andalusian.

On February 28th in Spain, Andalusia Day is celebrated, and we couldn’t have a better gift and representation than this work.

G.P.M - To The Funk

At the beginning of 2024 I started building a small modular rig in a NiftyCase with the express aim of not making a an analogue Reese machine! Unfortunately that's exactly what I've made and this a is a little test patch with it.

In this quick test we've got the Instruo Saich quad oscillator going into the Bubblesound Sem20 Dual filter which emulates an Oberheim filter combined with MS-20 resonance and also provides/creates stereo filtering. . 

The Instruo Saich module is almost perfectly designed to make big thick analogue Reese basses. It has 4 saw waves that can be individually detuned/unisoned/harmonised and the first oscillator can also act as a sub-oscillator as a square wave at two different pulse setting or a modifiable pulse wave with PWM. Then you can mix between these voices as well and add FM as well so and it's full of harmonics!

Saich Reese Test 02

This is the Instruo Saich quad oscillator doing what it loves to do, big, melancholy chords and pads. This was also a test to see how soft and creamy the Sem20 Dual filter can go, the answer seems to be not that much, it still has the bite!

Saich Pad Test 01

This is a test with the Make Noise Mimeophon analogue delay module doing some self-oscillating. It's fed a bit of Reese from the Instruo Saich through the Sem20 filter first then the rate is set to the fastest and the tones are fed back through the delay with the colour filtering. It's also sent back through the Sem20 afterwards before the final output. 

I'll admit it's a bit niche lol

This is a little test with the Instruo Saich oscillator going through both the Bubblesound SeM20 Dual filter and the (new to me!) Future Sound Systems FIL4 Timbral Sculptor, which is an absolute beast of a filter. Since I made this it has now become my primary filter. This is just a little taste tbh.

Our DNB Finland stage at KBP 2023 was easily the biggest and best drum & bass party of the year in Finland. I'm so thankful that I got the opportunity to play, the vibe was immaculate and all thanks to the amazing people I got to work with to put this event together. The first 15 minutes of this were also featured as my YleX XmiX for Sonny's radio show. <3
